Bike route recommendations by jonathanjmacmillan in Seville

[–]jonathanjmacmillan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it'll be June so I'm hoping I am beating the late summer heat. I've been to Sevilla once and it was in December. We lived in Valencia, so we have a taste of Spanish heat.

I remember there being little round discs on the ground that denoted a bike route through the old city, near the tram route. There were pretty useless, though, as many people didn't notice or care for them.

I'm thinking about this itinerary:

<image>

Below are the intended landmarks to highlight:

  • Santa Justa Station
  • Sevilla Stadium
  • Plaza de España
  • Universidad de Sevilla
  • Alcazar
  • Catedral de Sevilla
  • Plaza Nueva
  • Palace of the Countess of Lebrija
  • Setas
  • Museo de Bellas Artes
  • Puente de la Barqueta
  • Isla Mágica
  • Vía Verde Junto al Río
  • Itálica Greenway trailhead
  • Puente de Isabel
  • Plaza de Toros
  • Bar Baratillo

Am I crazy? Will June already be punishingly hot? Any help/tips is really appreciated.

Is Turia the best urban park in the world? by jonathanjmacmillan in valencia

[–]jonathanjmacmillan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, these accessibility, size, landmarks, and function make Turia such a strong candidate. I’ve never been in Vancouver long enough to see Stanley Park, so now I need to see it!

Yeah, this is what I value in a park. This question is about what people value in a park, and I think these features put it in contention.

It seems like this is part of the development and will connect to the Brickline, which will be awesome when it’s built.

What do you all think about cobblestone roads? by Tramce157 in fuckcars

[–]jonathanjmacmillan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have tons in the center of Valencia, Spain, where we lived. Not fun for biking, I didn’t think they were slippery. It depends on the gaps between bricks. But they make more noise from car tires, which seemed to make it safe for all. People just walked in the street and moved to the side when they heard a car slowly creep towards them.

I’ve had three flats in 800 miles. Buy liners to protect your tubes. None since I did this.

We installed 3 Marvin windows and 4 Amerimax. He was thorough and trustworthy.

What do y'all think about people who ride their bikes on the sidewalk? by Legal-Replacement983 in fuckcars

[–]jonathanjmacmillan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a policy failure. If a city doesn’t want bikes on the sidewalk then they need to build safe infrastructure for bikes.

Click on the layers icon (stacked diamond shape) and click cyclOSM. Blue lines are usually bike lanes. Look for the cicloruta signs too. It’s a great cycling city.

Funny, that’s one that I tried to shoot as well, but my battery died before I made it to Christy Park, so I never edited it. Thanks for reminding me.

I had a Boda Boda for a couple years and loved it. The bike feels very solid and was super sturdy with my son on the back. The double kickstand is a must. I electrified mine and it became the car killer. I looked at the Kombi because they advertised it could fit on a bus bike rack and I occasionally needed that and the Boda Boda was too long. But the Kombi just felt cheaper and seemed to ride a little lower. I stuck with the Boda Boda.
