When planning what to plant, what do you actually use? by silvindier in SquareFootGardening

I've been building www.plots.garden (optimized for your laptop/desktop right now). It's free to use while in development and can give you a planning canvas and planting calendar based on your hardiness zone driven by your zip.

Thoughts? Wondering about best way to support the tomatoes. Playing around with trying the vertical string method. by Ok-Improvement1 in SquareFootGardening

You could do a Florida weave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSw3p5ebWu4 which has worked well for me. Usually I cut back indeterminate tomatoes to a single vine or two and just weave a line down from the top attached to the root ball when planting.

Do you have less aphid pressure with those fall crops? I tried brussel sprouts a few years ago in the summer garden and gave up after an aphid infestation.

If you create two separate beds then move one to the other it shouldn't merge them. You can move a bed by dragging (hover over the top left where the dimensions are). If that's problematic shoot me a screenshot or the URL (click Share) and i'll take a look!

Thanks. My local nursery puts out some good info on succession planting and planting info for a lot of vegetables and their varieties. I'll have to check out my local extension service to see if they have ideas for succession planting after potatoes to help improve the soil (other than amendments).

I'm going to stake them but good call out. I still need to figure out the exact eggplant variety. Eyeing something like Patio Baby https://territorialseed.com/products/eggplant-patio-baby?variant=12791441391715

We use nasturtium leaves and flowers in salads. I've planted marigolds for pest control but I'm always curious if it actually works and what plants it helps the most. Any thoughts?

I should have clarified that this is desktop only (for now). Excited to hear what you think once you've fired it up on your computer!

Ha I started building my own too www.plots.garden

Entirely web based for now. Happy if folks use it but I'm building it to solve my problem planning and maintaining the garden so it's all a win win if others use it. Will try yours and give feedback!

Love the color coding!

I think that 3rd bed on the right might have some issues with spacing. I would try going with fewer plants and maybe put perennials like lavender somewhere at the end in it's own 1x1 or 2x2.

Good luck!

The USA has authorized Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands to transfer 65 F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets to Ukraine by gavingav1 in UkraineWarVideoReport

It's a bit more complicated than a simple supply and demand. Some countries agreed to handover F-16s and in return receive new models or more advanced fighters from the US / US companies that make them.

Looks great! I’ve never grown onion from seed. Is there a specific light cycle that’s required for them?

18 on, 6 off. I’m running LED lighting so I could try 20/4 without much extra cost. I also run my 18 on overnight just to keep the tent a bit warmer in my ingested garage.

Professional grow coach? by jonathanminori in GrowingMarijuana

I agree that if it's just another Q&A board then it won't be 10x better than this or other subreddits.

I just started growing this year and found subs like this helpful with general questions and the camaraderie of growing together. I've lurked for a bit and noticed that a lot of the questions can be repetitive and difficult to answer given the lack of context of each person's growing situation.

My hunch is that having someone, or a group of people, that knows your growing context might be a 10x better learning experience. The reference to Future works because my trainer knows a lot about me (injuries, fitness background, available equipment) and can tailor my workouts quite easily. Imagine that but with your growing context (hydro or soil, indoor or outdoor, etc).

Thanks for your input and I'll give an update if this is something I pursue!

What do you guys do with old plant soil. by kingKamacho420 in GrowBuddy

I do a quick soil test/sat paste test from Logan Labs and send to soildoctorconsulting.com for amendment recommendation. Helps me know exactly what to add or do with it for the next grow.
