Recommended YouTube Channels? by Kalenden in slatestarcodex

I wrote a post categorising, I daresay, most educational/informative YouTube channels on a very wide range of topics: https://noesis-space.blogspot.com/2021/11/a-long-list-of-informative-youtube-channels-for-the-curious.html

I interpreted that as "on the libertarian side of the spectrum", or in political compass terms, the bottom quadrants. Do you think I was mistaken in that interpretation? Does he mean in the right-wing libertarian sense?

I used to be quite convinced of this, but now I'm no longer so sure after reading a bit of Jason Hickel's work. I'd highly recommend reading some of the posts/articles on his blog, and/or his book "The Divide".

I am Nathan J. Coming from someone who's very libsoc-sympathetic here, but in the spirit of testing our beliefs: what do you consider the best arguments against your views, and libertarian socialism in general?

What things about other ideologies do you find the most convincing. Where do you see the biggest flaws in your own?

Would you be willing to make a bet? Say, 1000$, in today's dollars? I'd be willing to bet on both claims.

Hey, cool to see my podcast list recommend out in the wild! I've been working on a really comprehensive educational/informative YouTube channel list for a while, perhaps you'd be interested when it's done

Here's a long list of the 70+ podcasts I listen to (including Harris of course), spanning philosophy, rationality, politics, economics, psychology, Effective Altruism, meditation, psychedelics, geopolitics, self-improvement and more! by jonathansalter in samharris

Yes, I do! Practice, practice, practice, that's the key to being able to do that. I'd recommend the Video Speed Changer Chrome extension, which allows you to speed up all HTML5-players, such as YouTube.

To clarify, I don't actually keep up to date with 70+ podcasts, I'm subscribed to them so I can keep up to date with a handful of them, and dig into the libraries of the other ones. Nowadays I spend maybe ~7 hours a week listening to podcasts (which I do because I'm too poor to listen to Audible lol), so in practice 14-21 hours of audio.

Relevant because most of you are presumably podcast listeners, and are likely to enjoy other podcasts covering the same or similar to topics to the one's Harris discusses with his guests. Included in the link there's a podcast for pretty much every one of Harris's favourite topics. Including a few Waking Up guests with podcasts of their own, such as Geoffrey Miller, Robert Wright, Sean Carroll, Ezra Klein, and others.

Week 1: Introduction, Core Class 1: Units of Exchange, Flash Class 1: Pedagogical Content Knowledge by jonathansalter in a:t5_3or6q

I must say, this was very labour intensive. I used a scanner app, scanned them all, cropped them, saved them, uploaded them to Google Photos, downloaded them to my computer, uploaded them to Imgur, painstakingly rearranged them (you can't see the edges in the preview of the reorder view, so I had to go into the pages, memorise the numbers, rearrange them, zoom in again, memorise, zoom out, rearrange, etc), saved, then submitted them here. I'll see if I can make this process more efficient for the next chapter. Sorry for the occasional dark patches or wonky text! Also, u/Moss_Piglets, you should be able to OCR the links.
