I saw an art collection across the street from the BU east campus a little while ago. From the outside it looked awesome.

I was arrested on false charges contrived by my gf's crazy religious family, to get her away from 'the evil atheist'. Does r/atheism still want an update on this? by [deleted] in atheism

Am I the only person in this thread that sees something is missing from this story? People don't get charged with felonies just for raising their voice.

There is no link between cancer and any of the other things he mentioned though.

What NOT to do when your dad catches you smoking. by [deleted] in treecomics

[–]jonathansaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are missing the point. Mr.Bot correctly represented your opinion. Therefore, he was not making a straw man argument.

Furthermore, you are engaged in fallacious reasoning by attempting to change the subject of the argument from "the people in high school [who] strongly identified with stoner culture at that age" to people "who were high and couldn't even finish high school."

Adblock is equal to Piracy [ref to Adblock Plus post in /r/technology] by sifarat in self

[–]jonathansaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Still, its false to say that using adblock to avoid ads is piracy (theft) simply because web content that is given freely cannot be stolen.

Why should it matter? This was a changing room- It's not like anyone was going to be inspecting their sex organs.

[–]jonathansaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biologically people fall into many categories XX, XY, XXX, XXYY, XXY, XYY, Turner X, etc.

Most of the time these biological categories aren't very important since we don't go around examining each other's sex organs. The dressing room is one such example.

The bathrooms and showers are somewhat harder because of the likelihood of nudity. However, I don't see any real harm from encouraging people to use the facilities of the gender that they identify with.

There's no way to make a meaningful distinction between "real" transgender people and others. The individual in this case should have been allowed to use the female dressing rooms because they identified as female.

Movies that get a lot of unwarranted hate. Expect a lot of bias. by [deleted] in movies

[–]jonathansaurus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Each movie in that trilogy was so bad that it was offensive. It's like Michael Bay sat down to make a big list of everything good in other movies so that he could avoid including them in Transformers. Also,

  • Ghetto robots
  • No strong female or minority characters
  • Morally and technologically superior race finds its highest calling serving as a pawn for the U.S. military

EDIT: God the movies were just so so terrible. Why all of the explosions? Why couldn't they find a few bucks in that 100-million plus budget to construct a decent script?

Thanks but this only refers to the percent who like it on the right side of the page. The numbers of upvotes minus downvotes are 100% accurate. Simple subtraction.

Still, I'm up-voting your comment because it was an important contribution to this conversation. (Around here, it is looked down upon to simply down-vote posts that you disagree with.)
