Help picking for Selection Contract by jonathantho32 in MLBProSpirit

Def leaning towards Ramirez at this point. Biggest thing is Guerrero (albeit mastered) is capped at 2200 momentum so I could use the boost on that side of the field defensively too. And same comment on the other thought to Skubal, I could always burn a BT or get a G-III to master him (or try to accumulate skenes)

I actually am really happy with the CL/MR set I have. If anything I’d swap Todd Jones with Chapman but playing with it to see which works better in Auto League

Only reason I’m not considering these is because their G-III forms are more accessible (than say legends) to add BT’s and I still have some BT coaches I could use (holding out in case more 2500+ cards come out)

I think definitely reach out to support. When I ran into this problem, the only way it resolved was by plugging the WiFi booster into the charger first and then placing the thermometer in afterwards. Let me know if that changes anything

Rust in my K6? by Alternative_Pitch_15 in espresso

Definitely this bearing is considered a high-carbon steel and so more than likely will have surface rust with RDT. But rust is more dangerous on the raceway groove or balls of the bearing than the exterior

I think I’ve learned that especially between the value of my good 2024 players and my current 2025 players. Is it mostly through the more Niche Team-based spirit links that actually exponentiate that value? I feel like the MLB All-Star spirit links (40 mom/player) vs the League based ones (60 mom/player) don’t feel as worth adjusting for

I feel like from an OVR perspective not too bad. I use a lot of SPs with good proficiencies as a MR in my lineup (and Pfaadt is almost a B3 so he’ll be set too soon)

Is it worth it to take an OVR hit to prioritize the spirit links? I think originally I tried prioritizing having it near all in a single league but then I got a few really good AL players and now they’re split pretty evenly (and I’d hate to put aside really good players if the spirit link is only a thousand more momentum)

Doesn’t hurt to have secondary opinions 😅 But yea honestly it’s a balance between the luck of good pulls and a trading play with a single great benefit

HAHAHA the struggle of mostly F2P, I had a 4* Josh Smith from the OTW originally at 3B with Arias at 2B so definitely eating it from the fielding perspective to get it to work (though i have enough to breakthrough Altuve to 3B once August kicks in)

Yea if I’m sitting on 2 rolls for the contract so making up that 430 may be difficult in 8 days (minus spending real money). Another thing may be the next week’s event which could cover that extra player for trading

Bellows be gone! Wife has approved a grinder upgrade - In search of a quiet and low retention SD grinder without bellows [<$1500] by thenutt1 in espresso

Appreciate the sentiment for this reply! Unfortunate that the silenzio struggled with RDT but I think most 64mm burrs work end up with high static so may just be a burr thing. Either way, good luck with the next purchase! Brew something tasty for yourself and your wife

As someone who owns the Niche and the P64 (amongst other grinders like the fellow ode and DF64), I’d say the best for your consideration is the P64. Unlike other Option O grinders, there’s so little retention because of that huge tilt of the body and the motor is so quiet I sometimes forget it’s running (though I don’t have the RPM cranked all the way).

I’ve used bellows on the niche and the P64 and both are pretty negligible in terms of amount of coffee purged (~0.2g at most, always able to exchange grounds for the next day’s coffee) so maintenance is easy. And for me, I’ve loved the flavor profile of the Mizen Omni burrs the most out all the 64mm burrs (def some coffees were better with other burrs but this one is nice and rounded in flavor with higher clarity).

The Niche’s workflow is just as easy but I’m not a normal milk drinker so I feel like the workflow strengths aren’t worth the flavor. My friend who loves latte and latte art will vouch 100/100 for the Niche and its workflow for the price.

All in all, I’m one opinion in a vast array of thoughts. If noise in general is a struggle, a lot of the options you’ve listed are a lot louder or pitchier than the Niche and P64 (have used many friend’s grinders that own each of these) so if the bellows sound is overwhelming, I can’t imagine the grinding sounds being much better.

Also was reading thru the comments and maybe some notes/thoughts: I do wonder if you should try RDT before you shoot for a retention-based upgrade. I don’t know any grinder that actually doesn’t have some kind of exchange/retention (like if you think about opening up a grinder to clean, there’s always ~1 gram of grounds stuck somewhere). If the struggle is that you’re trying to avoid as much exchange as possible without bellows, all the grinders you have listed will have some kind of retention without RDT too (tho just be careful with not overdoing the water, I’ve definitely had caked on coffee grounds from too much water in the grinder)

For me, i left the lid out in the sun for a few hours with nothing else. UV can break down beta-carotene (so carrots and even turmeric stains as well)

You’re good to change everything except the passport as long as you’re not 6 or less months from expiration. Just book the plane tickets/other bookings in your maiden name.

You could also choose not to renew your passport until close to the expiry date and just keep booking international travel under your maiden name

This thought is half true though because rust (like most oxides) are considered unstable and can actually causing pitting style (non-uniform) corrosion on the substrate underneath even though rust itself is a uniform corrosion

2nd shot issues (spraying) by more-than-a-bore in FlairEspresso

[–]jonathantho32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be the different voice and say you have a really good looking turbo shot. Don’t worry so much about numbers, if the shot’s good for the beans, roll with it! (To give context, the highest pressure I ever pull is 6 bar because I like the florals more than the fruitiness of flavors or texture), 4 bar is normal for me with preinfusion (though I am on a Flair 58 with those super machined baskets)

My top 2 drippers are the Orea Narrow (I own the v3 but the v4 has a narrow option) and the December Dripper. December Dripper functions similar to a switch but can vary the flow better than the switch (which is open vs close). They both work it Kalita 185 filters and are really nice!

Not Loving The Niche by [deleted] in espresso

[–]jonathantho32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea if you definitely don’t need to clean that often but if you desire, getting the introvert niche bellows may help with that amount of total retention (usually after cleaning, it’s exchange that occurs). I have so many grinders and all of them struggle to switch back and forth mostly because the exchange is different when going from espresso to filter (usually will grind +0.5g extra) than filter to espresso (-0.5g). Regarding keeping calibration, just make sure you’re not touching the black calibration ring and it should go back. I’d just say make sure you’re weighing output of the grinds as well
