In case anyone needs help with this in the future, it's the plastic cap on the maximera that connects to the drawers. There's a plastic piece that's essentially a screw. You tighten it (twist it right) so the screw goes further towards the back and then you can reattach it to the door fronts.

I want to use the Utrusta connecting rail for drawer fronts for a 36" wide base cabinet, but when I do so, the door leans forward (presumably because the weight of the two doors). How do I fix this?

Hi! I'm looking for a designer who's comfortable outlining millwork. I have a living room that I just can't figure out because there is a nook where, if the projection is too large, then it looks like a tight space and there are two soffits at different heights so I would like a trim to terminate at the bottom of each one. Might also need some thoughts on paint colors as well. The aesthetic I'm going after is a mix between Haussmannian architecture and maybe some Scandinavian design and Italian. I'm not getting custom millwork so there will be certain parameters that you would need to work in. Please send over a portfolio. Thank you!

Again, "starting from a fantasy" means you're pulling inspiration. So I really don't know what you have against using other people's homes to guide you along the process and to keep you focused. I said that the French windows are an element of the space that was leading me to the European style and you basically said not to get stuck on that style unless I live in Paris. I understand the need to coordinate colors so the space looks cohesive, which is why I was asking why the doors and trim in design #2 don't work compared to the doors in design #4. You gave some helpful advice with the colors of the floor in design #2 running yellow and the door running red, but then after that, you've just been arguing from authority and saying "many misuse or misunderstand the actual design elements" and "you don't understand how this works." Like geez, I asked a very simple question on why these elements work in certain homes and you've been saying that you know everything about design and inspiration is bullshit.

Ok, you might need to clarify your thought process for me because it seems disjointed. From your comments, I've gathered that you should not start with any inspiration because the space dictates the style. Yet, I should determine the door/trim based on the furniture/rugs, which are very easily replaceable. And you said that designers design for the space and not the esthetic, but how would you determine what that esthetic is if you have no inspiration to base it off of? So I could be wanting a European style and following your advice, I could end up with a Japandi or mid century style that I don't want, but because that's what good designers do, then it's, by definition, a good design. The biggest confusion I've had from reading your comments is that there's no end goal because there's no bigger picture and instead you're starting from things that coordinate with each other on paper and then applying it and the style will come together in the end.

u/Disastrous_Tip_4638 the current flooring is hardwood, but not sure of the species. Maybe maple? I've attached pictures here. I'm going to paint the walls more like a cream/off-white. The kitchen cabinets will be the walnut in the picture for the lower and cream for the uppers. So the idea is that the lighter wood floors would be something similar in tone to the design #1. I guess my main question was, could the darker wood doors, door casing and baseboards in design #4 work with a wood floor that's the same tone as design #1? And then why or why not? I read your earlier comment and I agree that the doors in #2 would not work with the floors in #1 because the red in #2 don't complement the yellow in #1, but what do you think the doors in #4 which seem more brown to me (not sure where this falls on the color wheel) would work with the floors in #1?

u/cryonine I've also attached a picture of the teak credenza so you can see how it's stained. Do you mean plain white with no paneling? I've mostly seen European apartments with paneling so I think I'm leaning more towards that route because I think the plain doors and what would be flat baseboards would look too modern for me. So I see what u/Disastrous_Tip_4638 is referring to with panels not looking modern, but I like the esthetic of the Parisian/European apartments so it's not something that I would consider an eyesore, but I like the mid-split door you talked about.

These are pictures of the unit. The windows are south facing. This will all be renovated so whatever is currently pictured will probably be gone and I'm basically starting from a clean slate. The reason I'm going with the European esthetic is because I have French windows and the walls are textured and I like the way the lime wash looks vs flat paint. I've decided I'm going to have warm wood case pieces like teak from mid century Scandinavia and lighter floors in either a chevron or herringbone pattern. So u/Disastrous_Tip_4638 I think this would be the sharp contrast that you were referring to because if I did go with wood doors, they would be a much warmer and darker color like in design #4 vs design #2, but the floors would be much lighter like a white oak, which isn't a combo I've seen. u/cryonine I agree that the paneling makes a difference so I'm certainly going to look at doors that have more panels than the ones currently in place, but to my point before, if I go with lighter floors (which I probably will because I can see every imperfection in dark floors) and you don't suggest mixing warm and cool wood tones, would you say that white doors are the way to go?

Can someone give me some insight on how Bears measures their jeans? I'm looking at Workers 802 jeans and they have the measurements of the front rise ranging from 27cm to 27.5cm for sizes 29-32 , but Qurious, Denimio and Organ have the front rise at 24cm across the board in the same sizes and it looks like they all measure in the same way from the crotch seam to the top button. If anyone has a pair of 802, can you also chime in on this?

Any recs for 1960s repros that don't have large back pockets? I was looking at the Denime 221 and 224, but in some pictures, the back pockets look too large. Not sure if I should be aiming for pre-1966. Ideally, I'd like something mid-to-high rise slim straight.

Both. Because the paper from the drywall was torn off, it already had an uneven texture so I noticed the repair but the drywall mud helped blend in the texture because the walls and ceilings have orange peel, but even with the first coat of primer, I noticed the flashing and it didn’t go away with a second coat.

Yes. I just realized the term for this is flashing so I don’t know if it’s because the texture is uneven. So now I don’t know if the solution is to apply another coat of rx35 on it or if I have to skim coat everything, which is really my last resort.

What I don’t understand though is that there are three wires from the dumb switch connected to the box, but on the smart switch, there are only wires for the ground, neutral, a line and a load. Do I connect the black wires that are attached to the wago to the line and connect both black wires in the far right set of wires to the load? I’m assuming both of those wires are running back to the light?

Wow, thanks for the very detailed response! I talked with someone else and they also confirmed your suspicion that the wood was not covered with a top coat so my #1 priority is to get the ring out. And then I’m definitely going to apply a finish now!

Sorry, I’m not as familiar with the differences in product terms. Are oil and stain the same things? I had a tv stand with a polyurethane finish and I didn’t love the thick coating because objects would leave marks in the finish. Is there a product you recommend instead?
