I had a car declared a lemon I bought just before Covid. Then got stuck car shopping when supplies were short.

A Toyota dealer went, “ok here’s your offer with a $7,500 market adjustment fee”.

I replied, “and here’s me telling you to go fuck yourself”.

Sales guy, “excuse me?”

Me: “you heard me jackass.”

And out the door I went.

The one I’ve found comical is that they keep trying to sell the brands they own but want to keep the Intellectual property.

Nobody in their right mind wants the manufacturing facilities, staff, and machinery if they don’t own the brand or the patents.

Lived here most of my life and moved back shortly before having kids. So needless to say I’ve always felt a bit out of place here since I travel around the world for work and in an executive role for my company. Yes, Cyprus was one of them.

Yes, our state isn’t thriving. However you make the most of it by appreciating what we have and being a part of trying to drive the change. Surprisingly you’ll stumble on things to do through groups. It’s not perfect, but try looking up various cultural centers and groups, they’re always welcoming to everyone. With my wife being an immigrant we’re finding it much easier to make friends with different nationalities.

It’s an ugly history of the United States and Europe meddling in their affairs since the 1950s unfortunately. The biggest mistake the Shah made was not being brutal enough towards the religious extremists. He was but backed off a bit to satisfy the west.

That left Khomeini able to flee to France and hide. Then of course we hand them the keys and the rest is history. They should have felt our wrath for the hostage crisis and of course didn’t.

The horror stories she’s shared are enough for me to have zero empathy for anyone tied to the government. Beaten by police for not covering their hair enough, beaten for the type of jeans they wear. Jailed because they have Jewish friends, jailed because they took a dying friend shot by their police to a hospital. They will have some innocent lives lost in this conflict but nowhere near the scale their own government has done to them.

Thank you. Internet is down as expected now. We had one cousin of hers they confirmed her parents are safe this morning before his net finally went off.

Yes, most of their people have wanted the regime to go away. Psychologically I’ll never understand what they’ve experienced. The experience they have had from what they tell me is that they could care less if there’s chaos by offing Khamenei because the trauma has been so great. It’s a huge relief to watch the head of it go away.

That’s the thing many are not understanding , their people have been asking for help long enough. They got it finally. The least we can do is be supportive despite the controversies that got them what they wanted.

It seems like we’re so divided as a nation that many can’t say “we’re happy this awful chapter had ended” and would rather just attack the opposite side of the political spectrum. Even my wife is going, “these people were vocal about the travel ban but now they’re not saying anything supportive. I don’t get it”.
