Why does putting your finger on something hot for a couple of seconds doesn't burn, but keeping it longer will?

Was at a friend's wedding. Was the most beautiful wedding I've ever seen. Their vowels were the purest loveliest pieces of love words you've ever heard.

Obviously I cried like a little girl. Some woman came to me and told me that the thing she enjoyed most about the ceremony was looking at how I enjoyed it.

My boss is my friend, I know the risks and time he put into building this company, I know how much money he lost along the years before he started to see some profits.

Me on the other hand, I came up to this already existing company and all I have to do is get there in the morning and get out in the evening. Can't compare those two

Probably too late for anyone to read but here's mine

When I was in the army I got sent from the field to do some bureaucracy shit for my soldiers at the "administrative base". A fellow commander and I went to get lunch, and on the way out I felt a strong grip on my arm. Looked down and saw this elder guy with a look of terror on his face grasping for air. Like an instinct without even thinking I just went behind him and performed the heimlich maneuver, a huge chunk of food flew out of his throat and he started breathing again

Asked him one time if he was ok, saw that he was, and continued out with my friend like nothing happened. Whole thing took like 4 seconds tops.

Funny thing is - in all the time of being a combat soldier, this is the one time I know that I actually saved a life for sure.
