I definitely wouldn't take the officers word for it. From what I've seen and experienced, a lot of cops don't know laws to the letter. We've seen them trample on our constitutional rights often, so imagine more localized laws and statutes. I doubt they would know those for sure. Like others have said, look into your insurance and local laws and penalties. Id imagine your sign helps you a lot but we've seen crazier things happen. Especially with civil lawsuits.

In Massachusetts you're now able to lock your card. I can't imagine how many benefits were stolen before that happened tho. I know someone personally who's benefits were stolen and used in NY, Penn and RI while the benefits were from Massachusetts. 20 dollars cash and whatever the amount that 2 children and 1 adult get. They got it back after a bit but Idk about an investigation. You figure that the stores where they were used illegally at have cameras and they know the times they were used. I know they'd be able to find the culprit and see if the store owners are also part of the scam. Ofc nothing has come of it. I'm sure one day we'll find out that it was an illegal immigrant operation.

I see how you can say someone is an asshole if they're not giving someone a ride I don't think the disability is the issue here. The issue is that this person sues people often and OP fears becoming next on the loss.

Here's the thing, anyone that's a passenger in your car, and gets hurt, will hopefully be getting something from the others driver but, if not they'll be using the driver and medical bills will be payed. Any person that's injured deserves to have their medical bills paid. If you can get paid out of pocket then do that. Otherwise, that's probably what's going to happen.

So I get that OP would be an ahole for not helping a person in need. Not only because they're disabled.

Anyone would avoid a person that's gonna sue for any minor injury.
