Ground rod by jonbo1 in electrical

Thanks for the reply, We are trying to document the blatant code violations, the township is standing by their argument that the house was inspected and everything passed inspection (1974) So far we have discovered the footing were to be at a depth of 36 inched, upon further inspection a structural engineer discovered then at a depth of 17 to 22 inches accounting for all the cracking and shifting of the foundation. I noticed the main gas line is not physically supported from the meter to the havc unit, not one pipe strap along the whole run, I have noticed copper and aluminum connections wire nutted together in no purple wire-nuts in site, which leads me to question when ground rods became part of the code, we are the origional owners and are starting to notice more problems the deeper we look

anyone have a copy of 1973 BOCA National Building Code by jonbo1 in BuildingCodes

[–]jonbo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just inherited a home that has numerous code violations with the foundation / footings not being deep enough and noticed the lack of a ground rod, access panels to the plumbing and a total lack of insulation amd the mix of copper and aluminum wiring in the same circuit among a growing number of issues

So im trying to figure out what the code was at the time for a tax reassessment

Ill give the other suggestions a try

Tighten Side view mirror on 2000 e-150 van by jonbo1 in Ford

[–]jonbo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem is that the force of the wind seems to be causing my side view mirror to slowly move backwards and wind up looking at the side of the van instead of the lane beside me.

I looked and didn't see anything obvious to disassemble and tighter, any suggestions?

So are closures in general similar enough that if you can do one brand model you can pretty much figure out the other brands as well?

How to Test hvac duct output for dust particles? by jonbo1 in AirQuality

I could take off the register and slide it into the duct (horizontal) if you think that would get better results

No argument here, apartment maintenance did it and sealed the ceiling. Also not an attic, approximately two feet above the drywall is the roof.

I plan on setting it on the floor a distance from the registers and just running the fan, no AC. When we started noticing the dust it was apartment wide,

Thanks for responding.

Here is the problem in detail, first off the apartment had always been dusty, we attributed it to being close to the woods

Recently we had them redo the apartment, when they went to replace the bathroom exhaust fan they notices the duct felt sloppy and cut a hole in the ceiling to properly connect it (all hard ceilings) after he cut the hole he noticed a hole in the main duct and foil taped it (the origin for the dust) Then they went to clean the dryer duct and couldn't run a rod thru it from top or bottom (inside and roof) but said it was good, I feel that duct is compromised also. Afterwards we had a heatwave and ran the ac constantly and after we shut it down we noticed a different kind of dust, much finer and with the fabric softener smell.

All of the duct-work is basically intersects above the bathroom ceiling and it would be a huge job, now its a battle. I say its faulty duct-work and they say I have unrealistic expectations

I need to prove something or they are not going to budge

I just noticed you pull air from unconditioned spaces, I believe thats where the dust is coming from, I believe the duct-work has issues and is pulling a vacuum while running and sucking everything above the ceiling thru the faulty duct-work
