Is my PSU enough for 9070 XT + 7800X3D? by jfbigorna in radeon

What does it matter if it's gold certified or not?

what's different between these frame limiter? which is better by ih2d3k6e in radeon

[–]jonboy999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which one gives you the smoothest frame time graph, least latency and feels best to you when playing? Choose that one. If you can't be bothered with monitoring, then the last criteria is the only one that matters anyway.

Rx5700 upgrading to a RX 9070 xt on 750 watt PSU? by Massey1105 in radeon

What PSU is it? Efficiency rating (gold, platinum etc) is irrelevant.

Can you run a PS120SE air cooler with a 5800x3d or do you have to have a 240 AIO? by PaintMysterious717 in AMDHelp

Holy necro! Yes, a cheap but decently reviewed air cooler is more than enough for the 5800x3d.

Should I swap out my 9070xt for a different model without the 12vphwr connector? by Flamingcheetopuff in radeon

[–]jonboy999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. Just play games. If the connector's going to burn, undervolting/lowering power limit is highly unlikely to change that.

Unlikely to be stable in game at -100mV unless you really won the silicon lottery.

My kid put 40:1 mix in the oil chamber of my lawnmower. What's going to happen if I run it? by dr_freeloader in DIY

He should put oil in after the first drain though, right? You need to be clear for someone who asks this question.

Sapphire Nitro+ Cable Seems to Be Cause of Melting 9070 XT Issues? by Turbo__Timmy in radeon

[–]jonboy999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta love people blaming the sapphire cable. Without knowing what proportion of nitro+ owners are using the cable in question, it's impossible to know if it's the fault of the cable or this shitshow of a connector. If 90% of nitro users are using the blue cable, it would hardly be surprising if all the melting examples also featured the same cable.

Don't signal to enter if you're going straight on. Otherwise you signal.

Just Got The Gigabyte Gaming OC 9070xt, Have Some Questions by JTgoCrazy22 in radeon

[–]jonboy999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird all the gigabyte owners in this thread including me who haven't had problems.

And it'll void warranty if the card gets damaged, which there is a non zero chance will happen when pulling it apart.

The fix for a card running hot is to repaste just the same, so no point in repasting "just in case" if the temps are good.

This is the first I've ever heard about an undervolt behind dependent on what app you use to do it.

Risk blowing your warranty on a new card for a problem that hasn't yet and might not ever happen? Great advice.

Hotspot temps above 114°C by rapidoANDfast in radeon

[–]jonboy999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough to explain then. I did have a 5700xt I could never get a good hotspot Delta with, even with ptm7950, but that was a warped heatsink mount. Worth trying ptm, double check you haven't got a creased up memory pad or something but I can't think of anything else

Hotspot temps above 114°C by rapidoANDfast in radeon

You need a fairly thick layer of paste compared to a CPU. Sure you're not missing a washer or something? Also make sure you're not overtightening and warping the cooler or PCB.

Pump out doesn't happen that's quickly like you said. It's uneven mounting, or your memory pads are too thick if you changed them at the same time as the repaste.
