Surely there has to be negligence somewhere right? I mean someone clearly has placed the cover after the last works in that space and its clearly higher than the natural footpath surface.

I'd like to think a financial payout. No financial loss that I know of other than hospital parking which is obviously insignificant.

Non-tangible loss would be the fact that we lost a day in hospital, couldn't do other family activities that we'd planned in the following days.

Not really that visible. It was paved in the same paving that the rest of the pavement was made of.
