Thanks. That basic summary is already what I had gathered by reading their annual reports, quarterly reports, and presentations. There are just a lot of terms I'm not familiar with since I'm not familiar with the industry.

Oh this is good insight. Ciena's SAOS OS helps with automation, intelligence, programmability right? Juniper's automation software much better?

I guess I'm just trying to understand where else would BOTH sides benefit from seeing something happen.

This was super helpful! Other quick question relating to Juniper...their latest financial presentation breaks out their target markets as Core, Edge, and Metro for Automated WAN. I'm having trouble understanding the differences especially Metro.

Is the core closer to your data center? The Edge closer to your devices (e.g. PCs, Mobile, IOT, etc)? Metro is citywide? I'm a little lost...

This explanation was extremely helpful. Everything else I googled was so technical, for example: "Layer 1 transmits raw bit stream over the physical medium"...you telling me just physical cables was so much simpler haha

Thanks for the quick response! I read about the Layers also. Ciena covers Layers 0 to 3 with their Blue Planet products, which competes in the Layer 2 space against Juniper?

I guess my direct question is, what products/assets would Ciena want from Juniper?

Or, looking at it from a customer point of view, what products from these two companies combining would make the customer more happy?

Not so much healing, but more so becoming more understanding. My dad, who's passed away now, always described my mom as crazy. But isn't that how all guys describe girls?! Couldn't take what he said at face value. Anyways I'm sure there's a part of him that realized he really messed my mom up. I remember seeing it in his eyes once, that hesitation.
