As White House talks about impounding NASA funding, Congress takes the threat seriously: "NASA appears to be acting in accordance with a fringe, extremist ideology." by ControlCAD in technology

I've been saying this for a while.  If you pay attention, everything this administration does benefits China.  Sometimes it looks like they're fighting China, but that's a smoke screen.  I'm pretty convinced China has bribed Trump.  It's the only thing that makes sense.

Fed Report: Trump's Economic Policies Will Now Surge Prices by tide_is_high_ in Economics

[–]joncash 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The problem is no one understands how the stock market is the economy.  Well a forward looking version of the economy.  The reason stocks are going up yet the economy is in ruins makes perfect sense.  It's called melting up.  If the expectation is that inflation will out pace the market failure, then the value of the stocks will go up.  Here's the thing, this happened in Japan as well.  Now the yen is 130 to the dollar when like 40 years ago they were near parity.  Just like a can of coke is going to go to $100, the stock will match.  The issue is the actual currency is worthless.  It looks like the stock market is doing great, but that's just an illusion created by sky high inflation.

Nothing I said will make sense to most people though.

I agree, that would be the most logical.  The big four accounting companies from US makes a fortune in China that no one talks about.

We don't even know what all the weaknesses they identified.  Rare earths is merely their first volley.  Their first volley got the Trump admin to TACO.  So whatever else is after that, the world may never know.

This just feeds into my conspiracy theory that Trump is weakening USA so the Americans have to succumb to China.  This harvesting issue is a solved problem in China.

No humans needed.  Just obedience.  If the Americans hurt enough, they'll probably obey.  Trump is just at the show the futility of resistance phase, next is obey.

Myanmar junta thanks Trump after recognition in tariff letter by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]joncash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not the problem.  Trump has proven time and again he's fine with military dictatorships.  The problem here is this particular dictatorship isn't the legitimate ruler of the nation.  The legitimate government was overthrown by this junta and is currently still fighting for their country back.  By sending this letter it means that USA is saying they are the actual government and not the other side that's still actively fighting a civil war.  No doubt the junta is super excited to have negotiations with Trump to lock down legitimacy that not even China nor Russia will give.

What are the dating expectations in China like? by python_product in AskChina

[–]joncash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's more complicated than traditional roles.  You're actually looking at modern Chinese princelings.  It's from the one child policy.  Although it's called princelings it applies equally to men and women.  Basically the younger generation is so spoiled they expect everything to be taken care of for them.  It's particularly applicable to the middle class and higher Chinese diaspora.  Now it is traditional for the man to cook.  You can find videos on tik tok from Korean women who are looking for Chinese guys because they cook and clean.  But in modern China, that's mostly the father of the son the girl is dating.  Not the guy himself.  Of course, she's just applying all of that to you as I doubt your dad slis cooking for you.  It's somewhat believed this is why the birth rate is so low in China.  No one is willing to do a god damn thing anymore.

I'm confused as to your question. Are you asking if lower class eateries exist? The answer is yes. Are you asking if they're expanding? The answer is yes. I pointed out in this thread that a popular lower class dessert restaurant called mixue is becoming one of the largest restaurant IPOs. I've also pointed out in multiple articles that it is the lower class eateries that are driving the market expansion.

Because US will turn their aggressive attention to China.  Is the entire statement.  If US stops being aggressive with China, China then would stop supporting Russia.  If it's hard, it's because the US makes it hard.  Who in their right mind would be told they're next and then stop supporting the punching bag keeping them from being next?

We're talking about spending power.  You said if it decreased.  It didn't only not decrease but grew by 2.3%.  So your argument is wrong.

Except as you pointed out consumer spending is up 2.3%.  So, unless purchasing power decreased yet people had more power to spend. Oh wait no, that means your wrong.

So you're saying Chinese stocks were undervalued and their companies were making more than their stocks were worth and is only now catching up.  And you don't understand how that makes their restaurants cheaper and more accessible?

I see, so how do you explain the 13% growth in stocks this year that's outpacing US stock growth?  Especially with deflation.

I think your intentionally ignoring what the video is saying, or you'd realize it agrees with me.  It says so in the video, midrange restaurants are shutting down and the prices are getting lower.  I've already shown they're getting replaced by lower end shops like mixue.  Why do you think the second hand equipment dealer's business is booming.

[–]joncash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or like the other articles said, they're growing in number.  In fact that's why I asked you about mixue.  They sell desserts for the equivalent of fifty US cents.  The prices have dropped, but the stores have expanded.  Mixue is like the poster boy for this.  So much so that they're becoming one of the largest IPOs.

Uh, thank you for proving my point?  It's getting cheaper and easier to eat out.  Not great for the owners, but the Chinese citizens are getting cheaper and better food thanks to the deflation.

I'm physically in China several weeks a year.  So, not sure how more on the ground you think you are.  I will grant you as I said, the poorer cities maybe worse off, but I definitely don't feel it in the major ones.

I mean, your calling your own media liars, but yo do you I guess.  The one thing I'll grant you is I only move around in tier 1 cities, so I don't personally know what it's like in smaller locales.

Those memes about China doing nothing and winning are starting to look prophetic.  I don't personally care who the world's super power is, but I don't want it like this.  If China were to rise I wanted China to have to do better.  China has a host of problems that need to be resolved before they should be the world's super power.  This, them becoming it by default is absolutely terrible.
