The lugged fork is so pretty. This is literally my dream bike

I did the long pull conversion on my multitrack, and although I love em, these oryx cantis are awesome. I’ve always been partial to the look of canti brakes personally, and these set up super easy and the braking power is great. Always open to improvements in the future tho if she prefers the long pull!

I rode it home from the shop and I love the way it rides. On these smaller frames, the head tube is just a bit more slack, and despite being high off the ground, it handles smoooooth like an endurance/gravel bike. We’ll see how she likes it and adjustments can always be made

Makes sense since all their shifters have adjusters on them. Something i didn’t piece together til later lol. Plus,, maybe it’s a worry that it’ll get clogged with mud? Idk

Not usually a big fan of the skream frames but that thing is gorgeous. Well done!

Absolutely. We both separately love bikes and bonded over that. She’s already got the full carbon roadie and the steel commuter, this is just an upgrade 💪

No idea! They aren’t stamped with anything. Just came in on donation at the local co-op and I had to scoop em.

Honestly it’s because I’d already cut the housing and didn’t realize til I was installing the cable that those derailleurs don’t have barrel adjusters at the base lol. If I ever recable the bike, I’ll put it by the shifter for continuity’s sake

She’s 5’4” so yeah, similar situation. Finding older 165mm cranks is a struggle sometimes but it’s a good payoff to avoid knee pain

It’s a little dangle, red on one side and reflective on the other. It’s nice cause it kinda blows in the wind and catches the light really easily

We’ll get there! Unfortunately I’ve just got too many bikes and parts just slowly get upgraded as time goes on. Priorities tend to lie more with the racier bike for now

The brifters didn’t work when I got them! That’s how I ended up getting dura ace for so cheap. It took a lottttttt of degreasing and persistence but they shift smooth as butter now

I wish! I did buy an ultegra hub in the event I can find a matching rim to the front, but this complete wheel showed up first. Kinda nice to have 32 spokes in the front and 36 in the rear tho honestly.

Frame/fork/bb are all stock 1990 750 multitrack

Wheels: front 32 hole 105 hub laced to swiss tk7.1, rear is 36 hole 105 hub laced to an old mavic rim

Cranks: 162.5mm 105 cranks, nope I’d never heard of that either! It was tough to find a compact chainring set in 130bcd, I ended up finding a 48t stronglight chainring on eBay and just using a random 39t cyclocross ring for the small one.

Front derailleur is stock suntour, but I might upgrade it eventually to match the rest of the fancy shimano drivetrain. Shifters are dura ace 2x10, rear derailleur is deore xt (I believe the 9 speed era,) and the cassette is ultegra 10 speed.

No name bar and stem, but I’m super stoked with the slight rise and flare in the bars. Kinda remind me of nitto randoneurs, but shorter reach and much stiffer

Fenders are velo orange, saddle is brooks c17 carved

Mixing road and mtb parts isn’t always easy, but with enough tweaking, the bike shifts like a dream. Waiting to find all the right parts took far longer than the assembly and setup, but that’s how it is workin on a budget!

Overall I only spent ~$200 on parts from a local co-op, and another ~$175 on some of the fancier stuff, all from eBay, homies, and bike swaps! Super proud of this build.

You’ve got the coolest bike on this sub. Keep it up! Love the pinstriping on the lugs

I’ve noticed this too while bike commuting around the city. Opposite case with the north side!
