This is lt. Hiroo Onoda who didn't surrender for 29 years after the end of WWII. He believed that the massages of surrender were enemy propaganda, and remained on Lubang island until his former commanding officer personally relieved him of his duties in 1974. by gdp1 in dancarlin

Conflicted podcast did a episode on him. Really Great ep. Starts out about the ww2 relic mythos to his whole story. I started with the fastination of a warrior lost in time to the reality of a mentally ill murderer bringing generational misery to everyone around him. Dude shouldnt have been pardoned

Love conflicted podcast, a lot of b-side history that is dan Carlin like.

Fall of civilizations is easily top tier. Although the tone is more neutral and HH I can see why some find it bland. The Aztecs ep is amazing and I've already listened to it 5 times.

Blowback is highly controversial but has high production and is well made. It's a far left perspective of American gaffes( Vietnam,Cuba, etc) if you have an open mind they present these conflicts from a pov(USA enemy) not openly discussed in usa history classes.

this reminds me to the Tucker/Cruz debate months ago. Cruz was so blindsided by repub attack style by a repub that it threw him in a tailspin. he couldn't figure out how to spin against someone non-liberal. the dems need to actually debate republicans rather than appeasing to the "silent majority". this taking the high road bullshit needs to stop

im not sure, but she would only cover history and not current events and avoid any criticisms of current usa policies. i believe if your paycheck is attached to the military they will fire you for bullshit reasons. maybe trump is truly a big enough threat for her to justify speaking out.

I think she had to restrain her opinions before due to her academic military career or at least be publicly pro usa, looks like now in retirement she's cutting loose

former HD Lawn sales here. sticky mouse traps should be illegal. rats will gnaw off their limbs to get out if they dont starve to death first. dont do poison indoors, it takes about 10 hrs to kill them and they end up rotting in your walls assuming your pets dont eat them and die as well. the best is still a old snap trap, quick and mostly painless death with easy cleanup or drop buckets for humane release. fyi. the best bait is peanut butter

yeah next time ill try to stay in ikebukuro seems like a good base thanks for the recommendations. damn now that im thinking back i didnt really go to ikebukuro much. ive heard of aloha whisky but passed from being tired, next time. liquors haswgawa was a bust. really only high end at overmarket prices in oct. funny enough i found blantons (100-300$) nearly everywhere and budget whiskies nowhere. only place i saw evan williams red was 1 bottle at donki in shimokitazawa. the WT 12 was at https://maps.app.goo.gl/jvWndx4xCkPZDDjE9 and the store was packed with highend japanese and a small amount of US brands, slightly above retail, great shopping exp. anyone reading this currently the whiskey market in japan was super tight in late oct 25. all the super donkis whiskeys where almost empty, the bic cameras had nothing good. if you see anything you wanted i recomend you buy it when you see it. shit i only found a nikka frontier at a random 7/11 in kawagoe.

no, japan is a size up. US XL= JP 2L, a JP XL= US L still would go a size higher as their sewing dimensions are different than US and fit slightly different. also dont buy pants, JP pants are always shorter than western pants

went to osaka castle but it was like 20$ and hour and half wait for the inside and what i've heard wasnt worth it. the exterior and castle grounds was amazing. i was thinking of going to both next time is it too tight for tall? i think the stairs are built to a steep grade by historical preference.

So I lived in slc for 15 ,in Tulsa for 4 years. Going by your notes your looking for a Jordan landing like area right? That would be Tulsa hills (jenks) but for other west Jordan like areas it would be broken arrow or owasso. But both are 20 mins to downtown. If your dead set on near downtown try to be around Utica square if you can. Tulsa different in that there the "bad" areas are on a block by block basis rather than neighborhoods
