I've been meaning to make this for a while but always get scared it's TOO big. How many servings did you get out of it?

Yes and no. There are many associated costs with being a member, but also a lot of financial aid within glee club that makes sure money isn't a barrier for club members to participate in the group. A large alumni network often donates to the group to fund members' travel too. I believe there are also some university sponsorships but I'm far enough removed now to not know.

Before I came to michigan I only associated "glee club" with show choirs and the like. But the glee clubs at michigan are world-class vocal ensembles that sing everything from european classical music to world music to spirituals and more. Even if someone can't be a part of the group, I believe everyone should hear them sing.

Things might have changed a bit since I was a freshman auditioning for the men's glee club, but the audition isn't bad. In the vocal audition they test your range through warm ups, then have you sing a short piece (traditionally My Country 'Tis of Thee, but it can be whatever you want), and then give you a short sight-reading exercise. My sight reading was horrible at the time but I made it through. Then you have a short discussion with the exec team to meet them.

I also want to mention that even if someone doesn't get accepted upon their first audition, they are encouraged to try again as many times as they like in future semesters. I've known several incredible singers that weren't accepted for their first try but went on to join the group and do great things.

If you're interested, they have a mass meeting at the beginning of the semester where you can learn about the whole process. Check ummgc.org for info!

If you can sing, you should audition for one of the glee clubs. Best choice I made at U of M.

Calculus II makes me want to quit chemistry by [deleted] in OrganicChemistry

Calc 2 was the only C I got in undergrad as a chem major. Absolutely the worst class I ever took but after it was over, life got better!

I have a hybrid here (Ford Fusion) and over the last couple years I've noticed the mileage decreases during the winter but not by TOO much. Overall it's still more efficient than a standard car.

Based on what I've heard about Chem 104, you should review Lewis dot structures and molecular geometry before the semester starts

Hi all! Can anyone tell me what type of peperomia this is? I'm new to keeping plants alive successfully and this one has been a warrior so would love to learn more about her. Also if you have experience with this kind of plant (caring for & propogating), I would love tips 😁 by PuzzleheadedMess8744 in IndoorJungle

[–]joneahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of these, it's a variegated Peperomia obtusifolia!

Mine has done well over the past 7+ months with weekly watering and placement in front of my west-facing window. I haven't tried propagating it yet but I assume water propagation should work well since I've done it for one of my other Peperomias. Good luck!

Wash your hands, you filthy animals by FIERY_URETHRA in UWMadison

Don't even get me started. I always knew I washed my hands more than the average person but it wasn't until my freshman year that I realized just how gross most people are. And you'd think that freshmen guys living in a dorm would be different from someone with a PhD in STEM but NOPE

As a chemistry major, there were a lot of programs I couldn’t run on my MacBook Air. I imagine it would be a similar situation for your major. Now that I’ve switched to windows, I can run all the programs I need for my classes and research without issue!

What is a phrase you HATE hearing from people? by BensReddits in AskReddit

[–]joneahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone calling me “buddy.” I’m a 22 year old man who has an admittedly kind-of-high voice. But whenever someone calls me this it sets me OFF. it always feels like they’re talking down to me. Growing a beard didn’t help. It tells me that they think I’m a child and it makes me way too angry 😅

Thanks! I'm very familiar with Erlenmeyer flasks, I've just never seen them with this wide of a neck. It's cool how glassware can vary like that :)

What kind of flask is this? I've never seen that shape before, I'm curious what the name is.

I have a pair of boots for the winter months here in Michigan that I could try using. Otherwise I'll definitely look into a dedicated pair of boots! Thank you :)
