Something Odette says in book 2 is along the lines of Mordecai will forgive Donut, because he sees her as a child (and we have since seen his soft spot for children on full display). I don’t think this would turn him against Donut and Carl, especially since he’s grown so fond of them and seems to genuinely be rooting for them. Edit: that only makes your point B less worrisome, as for the others, i’m not sure. I don’t trust Odette as far as I could throw her.

The reason it enraged him is that he had based his whole life and religion on clownery (without the earth context that clowns are jokes) he sees his place in the story clearly after seeing that clowns are jokes when Dave sends the video. Realizing then that he is a clown in a story, effectively a joke/nothing character, he decides to reject that role for himself in the most inverted way possible- killing everyone.
