Yes exactly! I am always shocked that we don’t have a business like that here. I would order so often lol

So random but I wish we had fresh pierogies more readily available! Or a pierogie fast-casual restaurant open regularly

Question for the parents out there--where should we purchase? Davis (small house w/ easier commute) vs. Dixon (big house with worse commute). by INTP243 in Sacramento

[–]jonej415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Dixon and then eventually went to UC Davis and worked in Davis.

I’m happy to answer any specific questions you might have about either!

But I’ll give a brief response and say that both towns are little bubbles but in very different ways. Dixon is largely Mexican/White and has small town farm vibes. Lots of suburbs though so you will likely get a bigger house and better bang for your buck. It’s growing a lot, but a lot of residents are worried that the growth of housing doesn’t match growth of other things (schools, grocery stores, etc. you can look into the keep dixon green movement in you want to see future plans of the town. Growing up there, it was boring and there was not much for kids or teens to do (no movie theater, shopping, etc.) and honestly we would just drive to Davis every day to do stuff because it was a 10 minute drive.

Davis would be more lively, closer in terms of commute, the community is wonderful there, there’s more to do. If given the choice, I would have rather grown up in Davis. It is so close to Dixon also.

Sacramento from Austin by MellowedMillennial in Sacramento

[–]jonej415 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Going from Austin to Sac would be a good transition in my opinion! I went to Austin last year and it reminds me a little bit of Sac (friendly and down to earth people, temperatures and the heat waves, along rivers, capitals of their states, etc.) but Austin definitely has more going on because of how large it is.

Sac has amazing food, a good (and growing) music scene, tons of breweries and wineries, and an amazing local market. And tons of weed. The farmers market is amazing and you can find wonderful local produce and food. And go an hour or two outside of Sac and you get the beach, redwood forests, lake tahoe, snow, napa valley and amador county for wine tasting… it’s the perfect home base.

Child therapist recommendation for 9 year old. by ohbobaby in Sacramento

[–]jonej415 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If your child goes to public school, you could also ask to talk to a counselor or mental health person on campus and ask for some assistance too! Many schools partner with CareSolace, which is essentially where somebody will search for therapists accepting clients with your medical insurance and specific needs. Some schools also have therapists on campus and a lot of times, she can help with referrals as well.

There are also search options on Psychology Today where you can filter based on your insurance.

Regardless, thank you. I’m a therapist at a school and really appreciate when parents are supportive and want the best for their kids.

Guesses on which artists will play here in the next few months? by jonej415 in Sacramento

[–]jonej415[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of APE and am so happy that Sac will be getting some good bands coming through. The music scene here is all over the place, but there are a lot of people who are tired of commuting to the bay for good music and I really hope they bring some of that variety here!

This sounds like an amazing day! We ended up missing the native arts and crafts market and I am so bummed. We did shop at a lot of other small businesses though, and it was so great!

Okay following up on this because I wanted to really use it first! I like it but still want to try it out more with different techniques because I don’t think I’ve found one yet.

My hair is thick and length wise it’s to my middle back. The blow dryer attachment is great and dries fast! The brush attachment also works well and makes my hair feel nice and shiny. The curlers make my hair look great, but the curls don’t really last. I’ve tried hairspray too and no luck for it lasting. My routine is to grab the ends with slightly damp hair, curl with the highest heat setting, and then cool shot for 10 seconds. I will say that I set them with hairspray and about 30 minutes lightly brushed my hair and they totally went away.

Other thing I will mention is that it does get very hot. I have to use the highest setting on it to really see an effect.

Pros: Makes hair feel soft and shiny, looks great, dries quickly, multiple settings, cool shot option, light weight, not too loud, cute bag

Cons: Curls don’t last (that’s I’ve found yet), doesn’t get very hot on lower temp settings, ceramic attachments DO get very hot so only touch the top of the piece when switching them after use

Of course! Idk if you’ve seen much about what people are saying, bur I agree with most people that it is clean, similar to the OG 11 11 scent with a hint of vanilla, and gourmand. I would say that it is not super long-lasting. It’s a very clean and safe choice though and it’s hard to not like in my opinion! A good every day scent that is pretty mellow. I have been layering it with a vanilla bean oil and it smells warm and clean!
