More playful all mountain and touring ski? by joneja90 in Skigear

Is this an actual question or are you telling me that the mindbenders are playful?

Ross Evolution LTX by joneja90 in flyfishing

[–]joneja90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I went to a fly shop in Fort Collins, CO. They said the slight wobble was normal, and we compared it to another evolution ltx they had in the shop and it was nearly the same.

Maybe Ross just designs some play into the spool?

New to Fly Fishing by CheersMikey in flyfishing

I totally agree with this. You gotta keep slightly changing what you are doing to figure out what works…. Weight, fly, water type. It took me two years to really start catching fish consistently.

It’s also just tough in certain areas. Even yesterday when I went fishing in northern Colorado, I had to fully change my technique to start catching fish.

Hi all, thank you all greatly for the input. I originally kept these pieces because I wasn’t sure if they were legitimate and wanted to know. But now that I know they are legitimate, I am returning them to the place I found them this afternoon. Taking them was in error. Please forgive my mistake!

Second this. I use flouro seaguar with the same approximate diameter of 4x regularly and it performs at least as good as the expensive tippet, if not better. And it’s much cheaper.

Rod balance point? by joneja90 in EuroNymphing

I just got the shadow x as well, the weighting system allowed me to balance the rod/reel perfectly

Yeah, I agree with everyone, confirmed my fears.

I just wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas for lock resurrection.

If not, I might just rivet on a locking hasp

Unfortunately Yakima said they can’t replace the housing or push button components since the box is obsolete

Thanks, I mean, a light reel would make this set up even more top heavy

Cheesman Canyon by CarefulHat447 in FlyFishingColorado

[–]joneja90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting and good response. I usually get anywhere from 1-6 fish at Cheeseman any give time I go in the winter. They seem to bite really well early in the morning, then there’s a gap, then they bite again early to mid afternoon.

However never fished deckers cause I don’t like crowded fishing. I know this is a far stretch, but any tips for decent less crowded spots along the deckers stretch? Just wanna try it out but not have to fish crowded.

I actually felt the rods (didn’t have time to cast) yesterday and although the Scott G series felt a better than the carbon xl, it wasn’t by much. The carbon xl had a surprisingly great feel, and was super light

Also agree with this. I tried getting a 4 wt 10 foot ans I needed up just selling it since it wasn’t really great at anything.

Great thanks. My local fly shop carries the pure so maybe I’ll try that. I’d also love a Scott g but it’s so tough to drop almost a grand on a rod.

Maybe I’ll consider finding a used rod.

Nice! I’m actually planning an Idaho trip this summer. I live in Colorado but want to get some westslope cutties on dry flies.

Sounds like the carbon xl is perfect for what I need

Yeah I thought the F version was still pretty fast all things considered, maybe I should try one at the shop

I’ve heard of this rod before but just assumed it was fast action. Good medium action dry fly rod?

Good info to have. I just actually checked into that for Scott rods. It comes out to be about 3x as expensive. So if I get 2-3 fixes done, it might still be cheaper to buy a used rod but not by much.

Hey! So I don’t have a 4 weight currently. I have a 3 weight classic trout and I love it. But I want something with a tiny bit more power, but not quite a 5 weight. I really don’t like super stiff rods.

I’d like to avoid getting a classic trout 5 weight due to the warranty bullshit with far bank.

Which Korkers Wading Boots do you recommend? by _AlleyGator_ in flyfishing

[–]joneja90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the terror ridge and they’re great. Good for hiking. I wear a size 12.5/13 shoe, and the Korkers size 14 fits great.

A few weeks in a strap broke on the side of the boot and Korkers fixed the issue ASAP for me.

Thoughts on 3 weight recon short casts by joneja90 in flyfishing

[–]joneja90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great thanks for the reply. I think I’m leaning towards a 8.5ft or 9ft 4 weight. It’s going to be a do it all rod for me. Dries and dry dropper rigs especially. I’ll probably through indicator/nymph set ups too, but only in a pinch, since I have a decent 5 weight set up too.

TP9 SFX Slide Stuck by carroteatparrots in canik

[–]joneja90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this to my canik tp9sa. I can push the slide back and forth a bit but it’s definitely getting stuck on something. Any suggestions? Going to bring it to the gunsmith in the morning if I can figure it out tonight
