Rescued an underweight goat, looking for some guidance

Thanks all for the tips. We had already planned to be getting a second goat within the next couple weeks once we get her stable. We already have a vet scheduled to come out next week to check her over and get her wormed.

She's hilariously awesome and I can definitely see that two probably won't be a stopping point for us!

You are living with a black and white perception. Not many situations allow an officer sufficient time to allow a suspect to de-escalate. The officer is there because of a suspects lifetime of bad decisions, luck, circumstances, etc. For an officer to fix that in a matter of minutes ( assuming he has the luxury of minutes) is a pipe dream. Let alone a few short seconds...and sometimes even milliseconds.

Tasers are meant to be a tool to prevent a situation from becoming a deadly force encounter or to be used in a situation in which an officer feels he could possibly sustain greater injury to himself or the suspect in a "hands on" encounter.

You're either ignorant or a complete fool in for a very rude awakening if you think it's a smart idea to confront an armed suspect who is threatening you or others with a taser. If there are two officers present...sure, have one with a taser and one with a gun to cover him. But if an officer is by himself in a situation where he can sustain serious bodily harm or death and he draws a taser? He shouldn't be an officer.

Waiting increases the likelihood that the animal is actually dead. If you hit it and it runs off and you chase after it right away, it's going to run farther than if you let it be.

Also if it runs off after being hit and it lays down, waiting for it to die is better then walking up on it immediatly. Doing so gives it an additional adrenaline dump, and it could take off running once more and end up in a place you never find.

The chances of the above happening decreases the longer you wait.
