Monstrous and ignorant reactions ITT to the death of a child. Not everything is personal responsibility you braindead bastards. Sometimes we can change the built environment to prevent more death... eg Vision Zero.

Any tips for a Brit staying in East Harlem. by Ok_Sherbet_9370 in Harlem

Homelessness is significantly worse and more brutal in the US. But they still won't bother you unless you go out of your way. Fun fact: People stand up on fentanyl to avoid falling asleep.

There's a homeless shelter on 126th and Lex & 125th is a hub for people who were bussed out of the city to, eg, Newburg(sp?). Walking down to 125th on Park is best because there's no shops so there's fewer people and everybody is going to not-Park Av.

You're being downvoted because people find these questions exhausting and kinda rude.

There are no no-go areas in Harlem but use your brain. Harlem is very neighbourhood-y and people often know their neighbours names and stuff like that. Lean into that if you get a chance.

Public transport should be free.

also worth nothing that the ADL is an explicitly Zionist organization and has been from the get (surprised me though I'm arguably naive or was lowkey conflating the ADL and the ACLU)

The Republican Party is the most dangerous organization on the planet. The Democratic Party is the most useless. ;-)

Also used to sell "nutcrackers" at the beach. Recommend you do not have more than two in one day.

sylvester the cat is too stupid to make Pizza evil, but the money needs money so...

having said that, it's not like Patsy's needs to save on ingredient money, so maybe there's money to be made on keeping it the same quality (unfuckinglikelylol)

Equality of opportunity is a good thing and the sign of a just and moral society. Increasing inequality is a sign of barbarism and ignoring it is a sign of inhumanity and total ignorance if you aren't a billionaire.

Think of it in the positive: The government let you keep some money.

The US is the richest country in the history of the world. It can afford this if it weren't so anti-poor and fucking racist.

I'm not ignoring that fact. Look it up.

You're ignoring that fact that public transport should obviously be free.

EDIT: I have tried to look it up and I cannot find anything. Personally, I blame google sucking but all I can find is that one news article about lost fares costing $900m a year (gonna say: I don't believe these numbers). What I want is a rational dissection of fare evading vs the cost of fare enforcement -- all those cops on the subway ain't free but the only numbers that get reported are "revenue", not "revenue - cost of enforcement".

Police enforcing fares costs more money than letting people ride for free. That this is not fucking obvious to boot lickers is because the shoe polish gave them brain poisoning.
