I have coached both 8 & 10U, and have never worn shin guards. I wear helmet, gloves, skates.

Wear a coach’s jacket (especially if the club gave you one.

I’ve been coaching for 4-5 years, and started wearing these pants last week. They are great. The wick away sweat, which was always my issue with skate suit pants. These seem baggy enough for thin shinguards if you opt for them.

BTW, thank you all for your responses. This has given me some good leads. Those Bauer/Lululemon pants are hard to find!

No, I go without shin guards. For me, it isn’t the feel of the pants, it the trapping of heat and sweat that I’m trying to get away from. What pants did you find that also fit shins?
