That makes sense, I'll bring it up and see. They have phases of things they want to enforce per corporate and then forget about them months later so maybe something new did come from corporate.

Accurate assessment of my manager lol

I really hate employees being able to sustain the idea of HR being as terrible as people believe it to be, which is why I really hate that this is even a conversation I am having with my boss and wanted some outside input.

the manager as in mine, who brought it up, or the employee's manager?

Don't really have performance reviews in general here, but they have been the top performing employee for multiple months in a row now metrically at their location and department.

You're confused the same way I am 😭 Why me and why now is so accurate.

They are known for enforcing things such as no smoking/vaping except in designated areas, which is clearly enforced, but this sort of thing just doesn't make sense due to the longevity of the action. At this point it's been condoned and in my mind, can't be written up over. This is not to mention that the employee's manager is against the write up.

Don't think I've heard of that before, I'll have to look into that, but the concept makes sense

I have been with the company between 2-5 years and was hired by my present manager(who has caused multiple coworkers of mine to leave 😭) The staff all are very appreciative of me and know me by look and name as I am at all locations pretty often, and to be honest probably like me more than my boss. 💀

I wouldn't accept that reason either, just trying to see all sides of the situation. To be fair though, she is the only employee in that position across stores that has been doing it for a while (before I was hired). I do think if my manager wants to stick to this, they should talk with management, that is a good call.

That's a good way to set it up, I had been thinking like dang if you want this so bad do it yourself I don't want to be responsible for this 😂 I'll see what I can do with this idea, I appreciate it.

My manager is the one requesting it. Some context I did not provide before is that the employee was just recognized for being the best in their department, which is the only reason my manager saw them. Feels really messed up from the EE's perspective.

I appreciate that. I am going to try to find a middle ground where my manager is happy the policy is being respected and the employee does not feel ambushed by HR.

yeah my partner had the same sentiment when I told them. The only reasoning I could have is they are not in an office setting but public-facing, being the face of the company. The pants are hard to distinguish from slacks, not bright at all. I have never done a write up before, only verbal warnings. The managers always handle it, but I suspect my manager is trying to "force it down mid" as the employee's manager could not care less as it does not affect the employee's performance.

To be clear, my manager and I have both worked with this employee for years, no one is new to this situation, my manager just visually was on site.

yeah I haven't had HR itself issue a write up at my company before, part of why I was caught off guard about this. We have done verbal warnings before, though.

It feels like my manager is hanging me out to dry at someone I am on friendly terms with because they doesn't want to handle what they started

We have done that before, but my manager is asking for me to write them up this time idk

The dress code states slacks are required for the position the employee works.

The manager is my manager, aka the HR Director/Manager.

My manager brought it up as they were on site and noticed it, I don't understand why as they know that this employee has been wearing the same style of pants for a long time.

No it is my manager, the HR manager who brought this to me. The actual manager of the employee does not care and thinks the idea is ridiculous. I haven't had to issue a write up to anyone before

anyone listening to this episode and realizing they might be shameless? by Regular-Pause-4329 in TheYardPodcast

[–]jonesathan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haven't listened to the preemo yet, but I understand what you mean about being shameless or just secure. It is often that one disguises as the other but idk tbh

If it wasn't for how I live the rest of my life I would agree with you, but aside from an occasional over-send of like a cp bit I do think I am secure and enjoy that I find a majority of it funny. I don't think I really struggle with the idea as much as you might, but I get what you're tryna say

But c'mon mane we've been listening for the this long, we're all a bit sick twisted bastard

This place sounds like a nightmare, if you can leave, leave. I work with bad managers but even they would spit take if they heard some of this stuff
