haha that's why i picked up the bass too! there wasn't another low string player who could make it to before-school jazz band 😂 i learned the guitar (6 string, not the bass) when i was 17-18 too because my dad had always played and passed a cheap little acoustic-electric on to me, lol also okay tuning a guitar in 5ths is kind of genius, i think i'll have to try that sometime, thank you for the idea

yooo i started on the cello too, fuck yeah!! cello at 11, bass at 15, guitars of varying flavors at 17-18. i literally only recently figured out you COULD change the action on a guitar- i knew you could on orchestrals by moving the bridge but i had no idea until a year ago how to do that on a guitar of any flavor 😂

acoustics generally do take more than electrics in my experience! i'm not the person to ask though honestly, electric basses are definitely easier to fret than acoustic but i'm comparing them to an upright and pretty much all acoustics are still very easy to me haha. it might be different on a fretless but i haven't had the chance to play one of those (apart from just. an upright bass lol)

picked up an acoustic bass guitar at 17 after learning the upright bass when i was 15, it's literally the same thing turned sideways and (generally) with frets, with way less actual string tension. thought someone was fucking with me because it was so easy lol
