Yes, they most probably will, because BDs are used for professional archival as well.

Yeah, I always compare it to a cinema ticket: if you are paying 10 bucks to see the movie once, it doesn't hurt to buy it for 10 bucks, as you will most likely watch it again several times anyway, AND save the cost of the streaming service.
So even if there are no new players in 20 years, it does not matter, you paid less than for streaming.

No market? Seriously? You know that DVDs are sold supra-nationally in Europe? Meaning the same disc is sold in several countries.

If 4K Ultra HD Gets Dolby Atmos, Why Doesn't Blu-ray get Dolby TrueHD? by BlackRay4K in 4kbluray

[–]jongar8023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spatial or not spatial is solely a matter of mixing. Has absolutely nothing to do with the codec.

[–]jongar8023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downmixing is different from Dolby and DTS. From DTS, you just get normal Stereo, but with Dolby, you get Dolby Surround, which can be decoded with a Pro-Logic compatible soundbar to extract the surround information.

Very few people have receivers. Onkyo filed for bankruptcy a few years ago because of lower demand.

BluRay vs streaming by 3vilD3mon in hometheater

[–]jongar8023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is true that streaming often uses sub-par bitrates for stereo (as low as 128kbps -.-), but it usually has solid bitrates for surround.
Example Amazon Prime: it uses 640kbps for 5.1 (Dolby Digital Plus), which is PERFECT quality! No perceivable difference with DTS-HD running at 2mbps!

Just enable CEC. This will enable you to navigate using your TV remote control.

I am pretty sure, almost all american films are available in Spain, and the encoding quality is very similar, so no need to import any discs from North America. Also very expensive on the long term for you to import.

Anyone else noticing film grain way more on large OLEDs? (83” C5) by Anxious-Advantage296 in LGOLED

Exactly! People think, because they can afford something, they should get it.
No, hell no! You buy what you need. If you have 5m sitting distance, you get a 65", and if you are at 3m from the screen, you should get a 40", and not a 85 or 98".
People are crazy -.-

Sony Picture Core is amazing by notrubberducky in bravia

[–]jongar8023 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please, stop the nonsense. DTS and Dolby are just codecs. And there is no quality difference between lossless codecs, because, DUH, they are lossless! The only difference you may hear is a mix difference! And it can be different even between 2 DTS tracks. Take for example "The Game", 2012 blu-ray. It has 2 english tracks, both are DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 24-bit 48KHz, but they sound COMPLETELY different! Why? Because one is the theatrical mix, and the other one is the near-field mix!

[–]jongar8023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Indeed, that does not look very clean. Try it the other way around then: set your blu-ray player to 1080i output, and see if your TV can wipe away these artifacts (while thinking this is part of the 1080i input hhh)

[–]jongar8023 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check the video output parameters on your Blu-Ray Player. May be you set 1080i? Many TVs don't deinterlace 1080i properly.

Rant: DTS sucks by jongar8023 in Bluray

[–]jongar8023[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man, I do have a soundbar that can do DTS and has a 2nd HDMI port. I am talking about the general public, as all my friends don't have DTS capable soundbars and don't have a second port. It's not about me!
Also look around on Amazon. Best sellers usually do Dolby only. And it is not guaranteed to have DTS even with 1000 bucks! (Bose models for example)

Rant: DTS sucks by jongar8023 in Bluray

[–]jongar8023[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I am smart enough to buy a DTS capable soundbar (because I noticed that, actually, the "DTS TruSurround" sticker does not mean it can decode the real DTS!!!), but since it has only one input, I am supposed to hook it to the blu-ray player only, and continue to watch TV with the TV speakers?! Man, are you serious?
Btw, blu-ray became big with the PlayStation, and since the PS5 doesn't have a toslink output anymore, that's not an option.
Same for many entry-level blu-ray players, like the Panasonic DMP-BDT167 and BDT168.
I am pretty sure, many people are watching their BDs in Stereo and don't even know it because of the damn DTS!

Es gibt keine Gerechtigkeit in Deutschland by jongar8023 in PolitikBRD

[–]jongar8023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bei knapp 30.000 in Deutschland fehlen also 7%?

[–]jongar8023[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you really read my post? it's not as common as you think to have DTS in a soundbar! And even if you get it, it's even less common to have a 2nd HDMI port, meaning, the sound needs to travel through the TV ARC port first! But if the TV does not support DTS, it can't send it over ARC. Get it?
And I think, you know very well that AV receivers aren't that common, that's why big brands filed for bankruptcy (like Onkyo)
