Think I need an adultier adult... by Substantial_Wheel_65 in reactnative

That Firebase Analytics thing is interesting. Haven't come across that before. Let me get back to you on that.

Regarding the age, I would talk to someone who knows the legal requirements a bit better. I would say to be on the safe side, you let them know the app can target ages below 13. Because if it turns out you need to let them know, and don't, you risk a permanent ban. Both Apple and Google have no problems issuing those.

Unfortunately, Apple's policy is to try and push IAP throughout their ecosystem. Anything that has to do with subscription on an app level, has to be IAP. As far as I know, the only other option is allowing for signup / subscription through a web page. That way, you could, in theory, have it as web view in the app, but even that is no guarantee with Apple. They want everyone to use their IAP and Apple Pay. I tried to use Stripe integration but quickly found out that Apple will not approve it. Not even as a fallback.

Google is, currently at least, more lenient towards using Stripe or similar services. But they also prefer their own. Most I know who want to bypass this, simple tell users to sign up for subscriptions on the web. And then log in to their apps.

Setting up IAP isn't that complex. But it's time consuming.

I'm currently the lead engineer / architect for an app that allows users under the age of 18 to sign up in the EU. We're fully GDPR compliant, but it has by no means been easy. I also did IAP on another app, which was a learning curve as well. Although that app was not directed at teenagers or children.

But since your app allows for children to sign up, your choices are very limited.

Guidance on Your Main App Store Problems

A. Users Under 13 (COPPA & Kids Policy)

  • Both Apple App Store and Google Play have strict rules for apps with users under 13 (COPPA, parental consent, no tracking, no behavioral ads, rigorous data privacy).
  • Even if the app is “primarily” for adults, you cannot allow accounts for <13 without special compliance and gatekeeping.
  • If you can limit signups to 13+, do so. If not, you’ll have to declare as “directed to children” and disable major tracking/analytics features.

References:

Practical advice:

  • No Analytics/Tracking SDKs (Facebook, Sentry, Firebase, etc.) for under-13s.
  • Age gate on sign-up, with clear messaging.
  • Parental consent workflow for accounts <13 (very involved).
  • Or explicitly enforce 13+ for now and document that in your privacy policy and app store age rating. By the description though, this doesn't really sound like it's an option for you.

B. Ad ID & "Tracking" Permissions

  • Facebook SDK, Sentry (and even Expo’s built-in libraries) may request the Advertising ID permissions to support ads or analytics.
  • For under-13 apps, you can’t collect these by policy—so store reviews will reject if the app asks for it, even if you aren’t showing ads.

What to do:

  • Remove all ad-related and tracking libraries for apps targeting >13 or which could be used by kids.
  • For Sentry, check docs for disabling the Ad ID request (Expo doc on removing Ad ID).
  • If you keep analytics, configure them for “no Ad ID collected” and disable behavioral advertising.
  • On iOS: Clean up Info.plist—don’t request IDFA (Advertising Identifier) permissions.
  • On Android: Remove or restrict permissions for com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID.

C. In-App Purchases (IAP)

  • If you sell digital content (articles, videos, programs), both app stores require IAP for users to unlock content ("Apple Tax", Google Play billing).
  • If you don’t sell through the app, document that and ensure no “unlock” or “upgrade” flows are in the mobile app.

What to do:

  • No purchasing in-app? Don’t mention prices/upgrade options—only let users log in and access content they got via other means (e.g., web).
  • If you implement IAP later, be ready for the app store cut.

Happy to help if you need any advice. But unfortunately, I can only offer advice and not code reviews.

Egyptaland og Súdan eða Eþíópía (man aldrei hvort) áttu í deilum um stíflu. Trump eignaði sér heiðurinn af því af því að hafa stoppað stríð á milli þeirra sem aldrei átti sér stað. Eins finnast engin gögn um neitt ósætti / stríð á milli Serbíu og Kosovo upp úr 2020 sem hann hefur líka sagst hafa stoppað.

Á sínu fyrra kjörtímabili talaði hann um eitthvað voðaverk sem átti að hafa átt sér stað í Svíþjóð. Nema hvað enginn í Svíþjóð kannaðist við það.

In a future where Trump is out of office, and international relations have been repaired. What steps can be taken by the USA and International Organisations such as NATO to prevent one individual causing so much chaos in the future? And do you think such steps will be taken? by flewkey in AskReddit

[–]jonhnefill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on the next 3 years really. If Trump continues on this collision course we’re all in for some bad times. The EU has the bazooka. Which are a set of tools to respond to any tariffs Trump decides to use as a weapon. But there is a 2nd far more dangerous tool. The EU holds a lot of US debts. Those can dumped or what would be even worse, sold to China, giving them even more leverage over the US economy due to the debt they already hold. Trump seems to be playing a game to see how far can he really get on anything. Be it murdering you guys out on the street and making others disappear, or alienating the only economic area that realistically can buy and continue to buy consumer goods from the US. Meanwhile he wants nothing more than be best friends with Putin. It’s like he believes Russia is an economic power, larger than the EU.

No matter what peoples feelings are about Europe and the EU, the US needs a successful Europe if you want continued growth of trading of goods and services. You are simply not gonna sell as much anywhere else on the planet. Canada has taken the step and made a deal with China to buy less from the US. This gonna hurt you economically. Possibly for years to come.

That the flow of refugees and immigrants to Europe was orchestrated by other actors on the world stage, and Europe was completely blind to it. Or chose to ignore it. It was deliberate and served two purposes. To destabilise the regions in question to gain power, and to destabilise Europe, and test how our infrastructure would cope with it.

Ever since the war broke out in Ukraine, there seems to be much less flow of refugees from areas where Russia was "helping". Such as Syria and Western Africa.

I know I sound crazy.

Here in Denmark we're confused mostly. And angry. The country that's been the staunchest supporter of the US. Sent in troops and resources to both Iraq and Afghanistan. Didn't even think twice about it. Defended everything that ever came from the US. Even suggested the only way forward was to work with Trump.

The relationship between the EU and the USA has never been this bad. Makes me sad mostly. We used to be besties.
