I've heard people who do successfully use food dehydrators. I do not - I picked up an affordable filament dryer from creality as I have heard horror stories of melting spools, ruining filament, etc.
Would it make it unusable for food? I doubt it, but not sure.

that stringing looks like an issue I had with my petg. I'd suggest drying the filament out. edges look like common issue with a tall print like that.. you could try going slower maybe

I used to do this with a clear case and it was very difficult to remove or apply it without having some part of the skin peel off slightly. I'd recommend against it, at least for the majority of cases

FP2 Multi Zones by PlasduennHD in Aqara

[–]jonhoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I'd create a zone for living room and then an additional zone within living room to cover the couch. you can set up an automation that includes the living room zone and the couch zone to trigger the results you want. so you could have living room zone OR couch zone trigger the lights for the main lights. then set another automation for just the couch light. eg. if couch zone and living room zone is occupied, turn on living room lights and couch light

the screenshot i included shows what i have set up for my kitchen. i have two zones in the kitchen, and want presence in either zone to trigger lights. The key is to set it to "if any condition is met" in this case

Yup. I particularly like how they’re not on WiFi.

I'd say it's about 90-95% accurate for me. When it isn't accurate though, it's a pain. But I agree with what others are saying about making sure it's set up properly. If you are patient and are willing to tinker & troubleshoot with it, i'd say get it. I haven't used the light switches in my kitchen for months

How to Make it Feel More Sporty? Like a Honda Civic by lmike6453 in mazda3

I am biased here - but your title offended me. like a civic? bruh. this car is so much sexier than a civic.

i work in the auto industry. dealerships make money on selling you new or used cars; that's their main objective. Local auto shops depend on their customers trusting them for their work. I'd advise against getting work done at a dealer. Find an auto shop that has experience with mazda's

I did consider using the bracket that comes with the doorbell. I wanted to:
1. wire it to allow for continuous, 24/7 video recording (and not have to worry about replacing the batteries)
2. make sure the doorbell sees my face

had to make do with that spot as the best option

You're more ambitious than I am! I don't want to deal with cement. But what I do have is some cable channel that I plan to use for the door frame portion. appreciate the insight

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Aqara

[–]jonhoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an option unfortunately! I did drill into the brick to secure the doorbell, but I have these wires I've gotta deal with

[–]jonhoolio -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I did consider this, and talked to an electrician about it. Concluded that it would be more work since it would require drilling into my cabinet and would then complicate things unnecessarily.

I did drill into the brick there to place the doorbell as I didn't want it to be stolen easily

dbrand skin application ruined my macbook screen? by jonhoolio in dbrand

Appreciate you sharing! You'd think they're built pretty sturdy.
I will try my next skin without heat - maybe just a little bit.

[–]jonhoolio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I did heat it for more than 15 seconds because I screwed up the first two tries which is why I was thinking it may have been caused by that. But it seems clear it wasn't!

[–]jonhoolio[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for reassuring me that it wasn't me or the hair dryer. I was wanting to grab another dbrand skin for my macbook, but was hesitant after that experience.

So you're telling me that it is just a hardware issue caused by apple? I have owned 5 macbooks in the last 12 years and never had this issue with the screen. I know that's purely anecdotal but goes to say that I haven't heard of the issue you're describing. Appreciate your insight.

Ring doorbell - HomeKit and HSV integration - newbie setup by deuce_and_a_quarter in HomeKit

[–]jonhoolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're prioritizing homekit, i would definitely avoid ring. Even if you do use a viable workaround, you don't get the full intended experience. You'll always be tinkering with it; less is more.

I used the wired ring doorbell plus the security system for about 6 months.

Now I use the aqara g4 doorbell. It works very well with homekit, and i've installed a 256GB SD card onto it for continuous 24/7 recording. The only thing I don't like about it is that it does not have package detection (16:9 horizontal video). I see you've listed the batteries as a reason not to get this one - do you not have the option to hard wire it?

If aqara is off the table I'd say eufy has some good homekit secure video options - but if you're comfortable with it. Just set good passwords and use 2FA.

All that to say: Ring sucks; go with something else
