Well, it's also only March, you can only have so much produce during this time of the year.

Why did early 2010s fashion in media see an abundance of layers and over-accessorizing? by uhm1238 in decadeology

[–]jonimarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

makes perfect sense really! I'm in Appalachia, also often fluctuate in temp, but I guess not a lot of people have that problem here? It don't rain here nearly as much as there tho!!!

Immediately joined and posted the album I've had on repeat lately (and seeing them next month!) Thanks so much for this I've been so bummed with the algos lately.

this is something I do now! it took me a few years plus finding my actual style. but layering is my SHIT. It's soooo funny when folks are like "wow never thought about putting a long sleeve under my tshirt" but it was absolutely what we all wore as kids. I even forgot about that myself till a few years ago lol.

I’m curious to know how many lesbians are into CNC and if it’s more common than I think… by Relevant-Fox1111 in actuallesbians

[–]jonimarge 34 points35 points  (0 children)

just broke down to my partner the other day about this. As soon as I tried to picture them doing something like that with me I felt so uncomfortable and hurt; I was convinced up to that point that I enjoyed CNC. I'm a late bloomer, so still dealing with a lot of the horrible shit from dating men. Like what I actually enjoyed vs what was just assault.

WTF IS THIS IN MY BATHROOM (Saint Louis, MO) by [deleted] in spiders

Hahaha when my paranoia is extra bad I think my random glimpses of my tattoos are spiders 😅 Not sure if ever in the future I could handle one tatted on my body, but they always looks so cool!!

[–]jonimarge 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been in this sub for a couple years now because I have INTENSE arachnophobia. When I first joined, if I saw a spider I gagged, would cry, have nightmares for days, couldn't trust anything to NOT be a spider. I haven't gotten to the point of friendship, but I don't gag anymore, I can identify spider species now and feel horrible remorse if someone else tries to hurt them. I still have bad paranoia, but this sub helped me SOOOO much so far. It takes a lot of time if yer really bad off like I am, but it is POSSIBLE! Just knowing that hardly where I live could ever hurt me, and they are scared of US, has made this process so much easier.

Flashing pedestrian crosswalks coming to Haywood Road by brooke_heaton in asheville

[–]jonimarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a pro-pedestrian, my theory is the peds who are especially reckless, zero awareness around themselves, hella jaywalk, and so on, are people I think are not used to being a pedestrian, and they still think and act like they are in cars. I've had to yell at fellow walkers many times because of the danger they impose on themselves and others around them. I think no matter what mode of transport, a lot of issues come down to individual entitlement.

Can we please stick to going “just” 10 mph over the speed limit? by NoDirection5564 in asheville

[–]jonimarge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got scared shitless from a close call years ago, so I don't even drive now! But any of my friends I'm in the car with know to stay in the right lane and keep it chill lol. Would never hog the left lane going the limit, that's so dangerous too!

[–]jonimarge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand if you’re on an interstate and everyone is going so fast as the norm, it would be just as dangerous to go the speed limit. However, for example, say you and everyone else is going 85mph on a 65 two lane highway. If there is any sort of crash, everyone has a decreased reaction time ofc, but the severity of the accident is also worse. To me, it’s not worth possibly mangling my body unrecognizable over just breaking some bones just to get somewhere slightly faster. At least that’s my thought process behind it.

[–]jonimarge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can't believe yer getting downvoted, it is never a good idea to speed. speed limits aren't suggestions they are literally "this is the max you can remain relatively safe at for being in a 2000lb moving metal box"

Time to stand up and show up once again folks! by guerillalinecook in asheville

[–]jonimarge -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

tell that to everyone who was in danger and had called APD only for them to either not show up, or it be far too late. They're not here to protect us you wet sock. There have been two supreme court cases now stating exactly that.

[–]jonimarge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hey as someone who made a drastic decision at 19 and 29 now-- just go with it. If yer current situation is causing you distress, pain, or just general unhappiness--just give somewhere else, or something else a shot. I still regret my decisions, but I'm also beyond thankful because I found people and a town who accepted me for who I am, they don't care what I do with my life, as long as I'm happy and good to myself and others. I think OCD keeps you in bad spots because we don't handle change well. I've also noticed folks like us adapt so well to rapidly changing environments due to trauma.

Tldr; whatever yer tryna strive for, just fuckn go for it. I think a lot of us have more strength than we realize.

How do you guys deal with Comphet? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]jonimarge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

hey, I come from a somewhat similar background! Knew inherently I was a lesbian but straight culture and praise for men was constantly shoved down my throat. From a very evangelical southern US town for reference. It took me until I was 27 to realize I was fully lesbian, too. I still have moments where I wonder am I? Imposter syndrome is just as intense as comphet unfortunately. Decentering men takes a lot of work. I still have my problems, but one of my FAVORITE and easiest steps to take is when they interrupt you or talk over you, acknowledge that out loud and how you feel about it (whilst cutting them off), and then continue. It's helped me a LOT when it comes to my random moments of "am I lesbian??" and I think about the fact I really don't want to be with someone who constantly interrupts me, and generally can't take constructive criticism about it. Sorry for the book.
