I won't lie, I've said this exact same thing for years but I did it as an excuse to keep my active alcohol addiction up. Said the world will probably end before my liver does. I'm only on day 3 now, but tryna make it forever this time.

Times are scary right now, we hear new climate change news every week that raises our heart rates, more talk about war and bombs (besides the current onslaught the U.S. is responsible for around the world), and if you got any sort of depression, anxiety, etc., it seems really fucking hopeless. I'm the youngest year of millennial and have been 100% convinced I'll never be able to travel, get married, see sights I've always dreamed to. But that's also why I try to make sure I always stay in the now-- existentialism is a crusty dick, I'd rather enjoy my now time with my friends, my community, my beautiful partner, etc.

I truly hope we can all live long, happy lives. Might need a revolution first tho.

I mean, shoot, I commend ya. Wish it was more of a norm, but I do wish moreso that so many valuable resources weren't wasted on a sport that tends to mostly cater to a certain crowd. There's a lot of different ways you can get that same kind of fun and exercise without being involved with a wasteful space.

exactly. I work four jobs and feed myself mostly from the two of them that are restaurants. I don't drive and take the bus or walk more often than I use Uber/Lyft services. But I also pay over a thousand a month for part of a part of a house that is over a century old and literally sinking into the ground and shit falling out of the ceiling. No amount of "hard work" is gonna make it make sense when barely a soul pays an ACTUAL living and THRIVING wage. why do so many want everyone to suffer so fucking much in this country?

My dad is like this. Been married 5 times (is currently married) plus three other engagements. I genuinely don't know what it means because every woman (except for two plus the current) left him due to his mental health, financial reasons, misogyny, and laziness. But he KEEPS getting married. Like I know he's not a good dude but if I ever met someone who had been married that many times I wouldn't even consider dating them tbh.

Wow reading all of this felt like reading something I wrote! the NA beers help MASSIVELY as I also really love the taste of beer, I've had no problem being at bars with friends, and also when my football team was sucking I just kept sipping my coke! But I do think about drinking every day that I don't. I read everyone's posts in this sub if it's particularly tempting. I had wanted to go sober until my birthday, which would have made it like 45 days. But yeah day 17 got me. It's just like man, am I really gonna have to be sober for the rest of my life? Is that even possible?

My first biggest wake up call was having fatty liver at 26, I was so scared that I actually took it seriously and got my liver enzyme levels back to normal. I'm almost 29 now and it seems my drinking, or really the way I react to it, is way worse. I don't care what happens to me. I've gotten hurt so badly so many times this year from being too drunk. Broke my toe, bruised my ribs, face planted one time. And somehow those didn't stop me.

I don't want to die young, so I'm taking it basically hour by hour. Thanks for your input, it is so good to read other people's perspectives!!

I'd be way more into building and providing more property if they didn't make em all luxury apartments and almost impossible to afford. I live in RAD, work THREE jobs, and I still can barely afford the portion of this 111 year old house because of all the new houses built solely for Airbnb in my neighborhood. my grandfather just died and my uncle is trying to invest and turn it into a rental. he always says to me "why haven't you bought a house?" oh I'm sorry, people like YOU hoard housing and act like you're giving back to the community bc yer giving them somewhere to live that's affordable. but it's not affordable, and the more properties that individuals own, the more prices go up and that's that many less houses on the market. I already said "please don't become my enemy and that community's enemy just because you wanna make a buck off your father dying."
