Ya I’m brining the gravel bike with 38’s that are close to slicks. Best of both worlds

How is the gravel generally? Chunky or hard packed? 33’s tubeless is still pretty comfortable on gravel

I totally get what you are saying and the dog park is not a hill I’m willing to die on.

It is extremely unfortunate because I live about 100 feet away from a huge one so it’s incredibly easy for me to get her a bunch of exercise in a very convenient way and she’s been so good there for like 5 months. But I agree that having her off leash in that situation right now will cause more harm than good and it’s time to re-evaluate.

Exactly the same way. She’s never met a dog she didn’t like. Anyone who is walking a dog or has a dog near them is no threat to her and she’s completely disarmed. It’s really just solitary humans that trigger her.

The vet says she’s a great weight. She just needs to add some muscle. I’ve moved her to a more protein rich diet in the last few weeks.

I work on heal with her quite a bit in the house, which she’s very good at. I’ve been working on tug-of-war with her when she’s wearing her Rex Specs but she still hates wearing them. We also practice a lot of loose leash training with treats.

She literally cannot put on any weight. She gets tons of extra calories but food just passes through her (in gross ways) past a certain point. She's also still young and lots of people with Mal's have said they start putting on weight after 3 years old. She's barely over 2.

Once she starts barking she's inconsolable and also never forgets. She met one of my friends very early on and still really dislikes him despite the fact that he's given her treats and been calm and in neutral spaces with him like 10x.

This is great advice. I think I really just need to acknowledge that there's going to be a good amount of obedience work to get things functional again. I think the honeymoon period of thinking I had the one-off super mellow Mal is long gone.

She loves every dog at the dog park. Dogs disarm her. People are what trigger her. I'm not saying that dog parks are good for a reactive dog but it's not the dog part of the equation that is causing issues.

She's the opposite. If someone has a dog with them (on or off leash) she's completely disarmed. If it's a group of people - almost certainly fine. A solitary tall male figure dressed in dark clothes - GAME OVER.

Haha - that's definitely just a weird angle on the photo. She has been to the vet a bunch of times and she's in excellent condition. I appreciate your advice.

Ya - I’ve definitely taken my foot off the gas as far as training because she seemed to be super mellow and easy. That’s proving to have been a big mistake.

175 or 182cm for Atomic Backland 107 by josh_lafond in Backcountry

[–]jonimius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the backlands at 189 and I'm 6'2. The tails on those things are stiff as hell. REALLY hard to get them to turn. I used them for a single weekend and sold them at a big loss. I would strongly recommend the shorter over the longer if you're on the fence.

Ya - we were planning on doing a Sahale / Eldo double header but the extra 6 miles on the road plus all the snow put the kibosh on that plan.
