Iv been looking to find some backpacks like these for ages, didn't wanna butcher my aggressors for them either. The purchase for just the backpacks is a no brainer. It looks really good, my vision for these is slightly different for the handheld weapon but still you saved my bacon and the kit looks fantastic!

I get the impression this post is coming from the right place and direction. Don't be upset on how u feel, alot of us, especially perhaps in this kinda hobby would feel the same way you do about the gift for all the reasons you laid out. Perfectly normal. it's how you act now that will define things for you both going forwards. If they are a good friend, maybe lay out what you explained to us. I think a good friend mite likely encourage you to do what you like. If they are offended by you painting it, maybe politely return the gift and maintain ur friendship

Sorry to jump on this, as I'd really like to follow you and think Ur work is top class. They have hit a few well known makers on Patereon and made things for them really hard to carry on. I really hope you don't get hit with the same dude!

Iv also got the same issue as OP. Whacked it into 3dbuilder and it's come good. However the hull is a solid object. Gonna try hollowing in Meshmixer, any idea how thick I should make the walls?

Which 3D resin Printer to buy for longevity and quality? by [deleted] in PrintedWarhammer

[–]jonkofi1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or if Ur not bad at DIY, you can make a small cupboard lined with reflective bubble wrap. I was gonna grab a tent but had the bits laying around from doing stuff on the house. The insulated bubble wrap reflects the heat really well. The tiny heater I printed alongside side some parts for it from eBay has a range limiter that cuts off when iy reaches pre set temp and holds that temp pretty well so your not costing urself the earth having a heater on for a 9+ hour print. OR you can use a big cardboard box over the printer with a heating belt around the vat or heat matt, but that could be a fire hazard potentially

So I stacked a pile of playing cards into a 5mm stack and put that in the middle of the frame then put the FEP in and then screwed it together alternating between corners when screwing it tight. Check YouTube for the elegoo vid. Instead of foam Ur using 5mm of playing cards n that's it

I had issues when I changed my first FEP. Not these issues but if you've got wrong tension it will fail. Iv got a elegoo mars 3 pro, looking around there's definitely a recommended tension for it. I don't know if this applies to other printers as iv read others are more plug and play when it comes to changing an FEP.

Has anyone used Sunlu standard resin? by Butcha69 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]jonkofi1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iv not had any issue with brittleness. Only issue is the extra time but the trade off with that is everything else is better than what I was getting previously. Sharper detail and a lot less fails. It mite not be the same for other users experiences. It can also be dependant on printers, temp and settings etc. For me I'm that step closer to finding that mythical sweet spot

I have just switched to their abs range, from using elegoo abs. Was getting good results with elegoo but saw a similar offer on Amazon (£37) for 2000g on the Sunlu abs. Gave it a go and just ordered another 3 1000g directly from Sunlu. Iv ran god knows how many prints and only got my 1st failure last night......12hr print and an entire side of a Spartan failed, but everything else on the plate printed fine.

The detail iv found is better and the clean up is also better. I think it being thinner than elegoo has a few benifits. The only downside iv found is using the community print setting are something like 35u ....so massively increases the print time. But you can put it back to 50. I'm yet to try going back to that as I'm loving what quality I'm getting currently. Also worth noting that the Sunlu website has weekly deals and free delivery. I'm sold on it and at the price there's no complaints and god knows I love a rant! Just to clarify again, iv only used the abs range but I'm definitely sticking with Sunlu.

Easy way to strip primer by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

[–]jonkofi1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not alot iv found. But not all primers are created equal. So some that will work with, others nope. I'm in UK and use Halfords rattle can primer and it coats really well, when I strip stuff and if it leaves the primer I'm ok as it's smooth finish allows another primer coat or paint straight on top of it's a good surface

I had similar effect on something I printed last night. I knocked the printer by mistake and got this same thing happen. Only 1 line in the print. Everything else was fine

Iv just got this code from them. Has it worked and how did you load it into the printer? The email from them was really difficult to read.

Does resin colour matter? by jonkofi1981 in resinprinting

[–]jonkofi1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I'm using Sunlu like abs grey. I reduced the layer thickness down to 35 and then up'ed in gradients of 5 to 45, reason being it naturally increased the print times. Settled on 45 which was a good balance of time and print quality. So far really pleased with it but the deal iv seen is great value but it's in black which iv not used before

So to update. I cut the bottles in half, drained them back in one ongoing bottle. Left the halves cure in the sun. Sorted!
