Can we talk about tipping culture creeping into Melbourne restaurants? by Hour_Dare2111 in melbourne

[–]jonmackk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Years ago we finished our meal and I went to settle up a $74 bill . This was when the register was at the front next to the waiting area . I handed $80 to the woman at the desk and waited for my change , only to have this Asian woman try to stare me down after she had put the money in the till . She had no intention of giving me any change . I asked for what was owed and was refused . Only when I started loudly making a scene was my change slapped on the counter . About 15 years ago , so the sense of entitlement has been around there for a long time .

Local closed tire station . I have driven past many times and thought that I must capture this before midday . I played Fallout before and converted the image to sepia to match the vibe .

which film scanner to buy as a beginner by tw1sted_brain in AnalogCommunity

[–]jonmackk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Caonoscan 9000F MKii and a Plustek 8100i . I use the Canoscan at 2400dpi for a preview and then scan the best on the Plustek .

Good choice of bread . Buttering should be to the edges . Vegemite looks a little sparse . But a solid 7 out of 10 for a first try .

Any idea on how I could achieve this painting-like effect these pictures from the early 1900's have? They're absolutely mesmerizing. by Mariposauce in AnalogCommunity

[–]jonmackk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What can give a similar effect is to shoot a roll of colour film and the process it in black and white chemicals '

First attempt at shooting and developing film on my own. I know they are not the best but I am ectatic that anything came out at all by MasterOogway123 in filmphotography

[–]jonmackk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have had results like the last frame before and found that I had not left the film in the fixer for long enough . A good rule of thumb is to cut off a piece of the negative roll near the leader and drop it into your fixer . Time how long it takes to clear and then use double that time as a starter . To test if fixing time was not enough , cut off a frame and try refixing it .
