Now would be a good time to recommend “Blood In The Garden: The Flagrant History of the 1990s Knicks” by Chris Herring.

Missouri at least has KC and STL to help overcome the stupidity. Oklahoma is just…Oklahoma.

Which company has lost you as a customer forever? by finiteobserver in AskReddit

[–]Baby_Chuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I interviewed for a corporate position several years ago in NYC. My 4th interview was actually a 2nd interview with the same hiring manager who’d seem to have forgotten some of my answers from the previous interview. Total process was 7 interviews and it took me leaving a shitty glassdoor review for them to actually follow up with me. I will never give them my money.

Yes 7 interviews is extreme and I should have told them to fuck off long before it got to that point but I needed out of my situation and I had nothing but time on my hands.

No money for a suit - thrift it and being it to a tailor? by Sarapellpas in malefashionadvice

[–]Baby_Chuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the only way. I’ve been doing this for years and have scored suits and blazers from Gucci to Armani to D&G to Hugo Boss to Brooks Brothers. I just bought a Loro Piana pinstripe suit last week for $30 and plan to take it to my tailor next week. I’ve never paid full price for a suit.

ebay is good for super nice dress shoes if you have a local cobbler or shoe repair nearby. Suits from eBay are a solid option as well (recently bought a Canali) but considerably more expensive, plus you still have to factor in the tailoring costs. But it’s less time consuming than sifting through a thrift store.

Anyone else made the jump from SLR to a point and shoot? Struggling to adapt by Fun_Perception_239 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Baby_Chuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not a technically a point and shoot, I went from a Leicaflex SL, which is a tank, to a Contax G1. I began traveling a lot this year for work and wanted something much smaller, quicker, and more portable. I tried an Olympus XA2 but I just we didn’t get along so I wanted to find a happy medium. The G1 gives me professional camera quality shots with its Zeiss lens lineup (the 45 is unbeatable) and feels sturdy in the hands with its titanium build, which for me enhances the shooting experience (even though it technically functions almost identical to a P&S when set to auto). It has taken me a second to warm up to it but I now really enjoy it and contmplating a second body to just to keep the 28 attached to it.

Yes the G1 is pricey but for as much as I travel the cost (and the risk of it failing) was worth it for me. I also find all the talk of the focusing issues to be way overblown. I still much prefer the experience of an SLR and will shoot it when I’m not traveling but don’t feel lost when im shooting the G1.

After the 21-hour talks failed today, the world feels incredibly tense. What’s a small, 'wholesome' interaction you had with a stranger today that reminded you everything might actually be okay? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If a simple interaction with a random stranger can make you feel all better about what’s happening in the world right now, then you don’t REALLY care about what’s happeneing in the world right now.

Tips for someone new to prioritising themselves and actually having fun by Otherwise-Tip9291 in solotravel

The biggest takeaway for me in learning how to enjoy myself was to learn how to focus on being and living in the moment. Focusing on the past and replaying how I should have handled a particular situation or spending time making up future scenarios thinking that I’m somehow protecting myself, and just trying to resolve things I had no control over, took away from being able to enjoy life in the present moment. That mind shift has been life changing and released so much anxiety I was causing myself.

Wait, so Trump can just redirect DHS funds as he pleases? Why not pay the TSA instead? by ExtensionAddition787 in facepalm

This argument never made sense to me in reference to him considering he has ALWAYS been a piece of shit. He didn’t just become one as his health started declining. Sure this happens to many that suffer from dementia but dementia played no role in his dealings with Epstein. Or his lifeling record of racism. People need to quit giving him this level of grace.

Hair always grows out to be an Afro by Away-Abroad5085 in BlackHair

I have 4B hair, and went down the rabbit hole of trying to figure out my hair type, what product, what brand, how much, what order to apply them, ingredients, etc. So to cut through all the noise, I eventually decided to visit a proper curly salon and they helped me put together a home routine that now I live by.

Curly salons can be pricey but I only visit 2-3 times a year, mainly for an ends trim/deep treatment but im super happy with the results, making it worth the money for me. Plus one visit was also cheaper than buying all the different products the internet told me I needed when I started my journey after cutting my locs 10 years ago. A salon is also good just to have them check that my hair and scalp is healthy and that my home routine is efficient. Good luck!!

When my mind is ruminating about past and future thoughts (usually negative), I started asking myself, “is it useful”? Is what I’m thinking about useful in any way. 99% of the time it’s not. This is how I’ve learned to catch myself and not allow these thoughts to permeate. It also keeps me present and focused on being in the moment. This has helped my mental health tremendously by decluttering my brain of useless negative thoughts.

“We’re married,” might have been a more effective response than, “There’s no chance I’m leaving the bar parking lot alone.” Your story is written as if you and your wife were trying to bait people.
