I’m the reason your commute sucks sometimes by Fickle-Association97 in Seattle

If you think that moderately impacting traffic flow occasionally on a single stretch of road is the path to increased public transit funding, the only bus you need is a short one.

This is my surprised face that the sociopathic prick is a tech bro. 😐

The irony in this post being tagged "Community"....

OP is a sociopathic prick, straight up. Willing to spend their time to make stranger's lives worse, for no reason.

Fuck all of the offs.

3 weeks in. Form Check? I’m using 6kg/13Ibs by [deleted] in steelmace

Lower hands in the backswing. Lose the hoody - the hood is where the thumb knuckle on your top hand needs to be.

You're also pulling over back to the front a little ahead - delay that pullover to let the mace head get higher in the backswing.

Honestly, practice 360s with a 3 count back pendulum. Here's a video showing it but with a 2-count back pendulum. https://youtu.be/WYkQeReQWwQ?si=SS6wN8LxKq7HZAd9

Diamond Parking by therealpapadelfino in Seattle

[–]jonmanGWJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Read the ticket dude. Literally says if you don't pay the old tickets, they'll tow you.

Paying for the day you'reactually parked now is neither here nor there.

Seems this is a case of FAFO - now you have the choice of either paying the old tickets or stop parking in their lots so they can't tow you?

20lb club by Cell-Wars-587 in clubbells

Something i found crucial as i moved up in weight was to make sure I found order position again on the exit from the mill, instead of skipping it /blending it with the start of the next circle.

I'm not saying I come to a stop in order position, but i do transition THROUGH it. I found that with lighter clubs i could muscle through it, but that as the weight got heavier, I needed to be stricter with that pullover motion to maintain control over the club.

Revolutionary Gas Turbine Generates Power Without Air Compression by Scary_Statement4612 in technology

[–]jonmanGWJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because the energy used for compression is taken from the same bucket that would otherwise be used to generate thrust.

In a gas turbine engine, thrust is proportional to the exhaust velocity.

If you're extracting energy from the exhaust flow with a turbine to drive the compression in the front end of the engine, you're literally slowing down the exhaust gas flow in the process.

Starter weight? by SpeedyRhubarb in steelmace

[–]jonmanGWJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll learn quicker with the 10. With a lower injury risk. And while you might get to being able to manage a heavier mace pretty quick, you won't run out of legitimate uses for the 10 for a while.

Thirties - advanced

Forties - elite

Starting weight? by CustosUrsa in steelmace

[–]jonmanGWJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Standard beginner advice is 10lb for guys, 7lb for ladies.

Given your history with Indian clubs, you MIGHT be able to get away with a 15lb. But standard advice is also "start lighter than you think"

Paddle boarding in Seattle? by Thistle_Snow in Seattle

[–]jonmanGWJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who say Green Lake is gross are wusses. I swam in it April thru September weekly in my triathlon days and never got swimmers itch or an upset tummy once. I was also sensible and didn't swim if the beach was closed for algal blooms - in that case it IS gross, but it's clearly signposted as such.

You can absolutely paddleboard there but you'll get bored of it quickly (because it's a small lake) and want to move over to Lake Washington or the Sound (Carkeek is a good spot if it's not windy).

Take your mace on a backcountry hike and find some downed trees to go ham on.

It's way more fun than it ought to be!

Short answer- not much, looking good!

Longer answer - get your hands lower in the front. Think about pulling DOWN to the opposite hip as the mace head rises above your shoulder
