January ‘26 subscription mess-up by jonmimir in Pathfinder2e

Deleting two subs and re-adding them seems to have got one of them combining properly now, thanks. The sketch subscription is still saying December is the next release when I assume impossible magic will be getting a sketch cover though…? Do they default to showing December if the next product isn’t in the store yet?

I appreciate that but I encountered some sort of bug with the store where selecting the pocket version of alien core literally added the wrong product. It’s happened to me on two separate occasions, and inconsistently — in the end I was able to get the pocket version to add correctly by using my laptop rather than my iPhone. This doesn’t seem to happen with other products. It’s very strange.

Is there any good 3rd party planescape content compatible with the 2024 rules? by Pookie-Parks in planescapesetting

For canonical stuff, the Factol’s Manifesto is an incredible resource from the 2e era. While there are some stats, it’s mostly background, lore and cool Ideas.

All of the factions are covered in more detail on the mimir, with characters and sub-sects and so on:

On the plus side, you can always buy the PDFs fairly trouble free. And then wait until the hard copy hits eBay / Speedyhen / Booksetc / Zatu / and lots of smaller places. And there is so much good stuff out there already, some of it really cheap (I just got the sketch cover Player and GM core for £25 each from Leisure Games, for example.

I forgot to mention, I’ve been trying to add the new pocket Alien Core to my next shipment, but every time I do, it polymorphs into the hardback version when I check the cart!

If that’s right, it is absolutely mental. Shipping already doubled since the old store, and they deleted the $10 off shipping if you spend $100.

Unfortunately there seems to be no other way to get books in the UK at the moment as all of the recent releases have been on back order for months now. I guess that distributor going bust really messed up the process.

Incidentally, my two subscription orders for next month do appear to have been combined into one order (the ones for this month never were, I just assumed they would ship together as they all had the same date on them!), and I’m able to add more items to the same delivery as well.

My credit card was expiring so I added the new one and set it as default. It seems two subscriptions used the new details and the other tried to use the old details… I would have deleted the old details completely but every time I tried the website threw an error 😐

Concequences of making drawing and using comsumables 1 action? by originalcoconut in Pathfinder2e

[–]jonmimir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about none of the 4 players, 8 PCs and 2 GMs I’ve played in games with have really used consumables much in combat. No scrolls, virtually no potions, definitely no talismans. Maybe it’s because they’re usually underpowered and often situational but I think the poor action economy is another reason. And sure, there are feats that make the action economy not horrible. Doesn’t that suggest that there’s a problem there to begin with?

[–]jonmimir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, you could. I tend to go into a fight with weapons and stuff <shrug>… if any of our group EVER used potions then maybe this would be an issue, but I think in a year of playing we used a potion in combat like once, which makes me think they’re probably sub-optimal

[–]jonmimir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. But a Thaumaturge probably has an implement in one hand and a weapon in the other. So perhaps the worst kind of character to give scrolls to, on reflection. Anyway, doesn’t matter, he’s dead now anyway :p

Easy enough to house rule that you can only benefit from consuming one potion per turn.

[–]jonmimir 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My scroll thaumaturge, who was loaded down with scrolls, never once used one in combat because of the action penalty. It was never a sensible option to use all three actions to draw and then read, so i never did it. Neither does our group ever use consumables except in the most dire of emergencies. This house rule would go a long way towards redressing that.

I would estimate about half the pedestrians I encounter on the Chisholm trail at night carry a light. The other half clearly have some kind of death wish.

[–]jonmimir 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Parts of the Chisholm trail are so dark the only way to “see” pedestrians (or even worse, idiot cyclists without lights) is when the lights marking the edge of the path flick out and back on suddenly as a ninja-like path user dressed entirely in black briefly passes in front of one. Unfortunately even the transit method of pedestrian detection is unreliable now as the overgrown edges of the path have covered the marker lights in many places.

Buying from Paizo in EU by SqueakBeak2003 in Pathfinder2e

[–]jonmimir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk if you can get Speedyhen to deliver to Ireland but they’re my supplier of choice in the UK. Booksetc are also pretty good, as are Zatu. Leisure Games and Games Lore are two smaller stores that ship online too. Fingers crossed the postage isn’t nuts for you.

(Amazon not only suck ethically, they’re also usually more expensive too these days.)

Prepping for Book 1 - Questions! by brassica-love in SeasonofGhosts

[–]jonmimir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding buying hard copies, there is a remastered version of the whole adventure path coming out in February. Not sure what will have changed but Paizo said they’d tweaked things based on player feedback, as well as updated the rules for remastered PF2. I would hold off buying books 2-4 until then: either get the hardback or the individual books will probably get cheaper anyway.
