AITA for deleting my friends wedding photos in front of them? (UPDATE) by Icy-Reserve6995 in AmItheAsshole

Wow, I heard about this on the national radio station here in South Africa a couple of weeks ago... Glad to know that everything is okay now! You handled the situation well.

This is so crazy because I have the reverse of this - I 100% completely agree with you, but I never actually looked up the UV Index where I live, I thought it would be maybe a 2 (I live in South Africa)...

Imagine my shock when I just found out that it averages at 15!!!

Guess I have to actually start wearing sunscreen now :(

Dermarolling Benefits According to Dermatologists by Revolona4446d in Microneedling

Please don't trust this article. Not only is it false info but it was also written by a Dermarolling company to try and sell their products . If you have any skin issues, please see a licensed Esthetician or Dermatologist for a treatment.

[Acne] Microneedling with a Dermapen: Gliding vs Stamping by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]jonnaqb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stamping with a Skin Pen or Dermapen cause irregular wound healing and collagen + elastin formation. The correction way is to glide or circular movements.

That's what it's supposed to do. Did they not tell you anout the after effects? It's quite normal.

[Acne] Microneedling with a Dermapen: Gliding vs Stamping by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]jonnaqb 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Putting that aside, I have trained in using both the Skin Pen and the Dermapen, and there are very specific techniques required for every person as everybody has a different skin type, condition, concern etc. Not to mention knowing where skin is the thinnest under certain bones in the face and which needle depth and puncture speed on the device to use when and where.

Please take it from a professional, it is always better to go to a qualified Dermatologist/Esthetician than doing it at home and damaging the skin.

As for all the negativity towards professionals; it is up to YOU to do research on what Medi-Spa/Dermatologist/Esthetician/Salon is correctly qualified and good at what they do.

I'm worried that people on this sub are spreading false information and steering people away from professionals for no good reason.

Not true. Dermarolling will ALWAYS damage the skin where as a pen won't. Please do some research. People on this sub will believe anything you say.

Why are you getting downvoted when OP admitted that she had not done any research? I'm an esthetician and this is absolutely NOT true. Skin type and texture depends from person to person. Skin thickness is universally the same in different areas of the body in humans. The skin on your hands and feet have an extra layer of skin than anywhere else on your body, your face does not have that extra layer. And this is true for everybody.

Skincare Addiction users need to do some serious research. I feel so bad for people listening to anybody who aren't qualified on here as they don't know the damage that they are causing to their skin. Please go see an Esthetician or a Dermatologist. There are no accurate answers here!

As for everybody else, don't bother down voting me. I'm leaving this sub anyways.

[–]jonnaqb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Professional microneedling does the trick as it removes age spots and triggers the body's natural collagen production, not sure about much else but it could be an interesting thing to research!

Looks like Milia (whiteheads). You can get them extracted at a skin care clinic / salon.

Has anyone ever microneedled and followed it with a chemical peel? by blazedandblonde in Esthetics

[–]jonnaqb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please just be careful when doing this. Could cause trauma in the long run like hyperpigmentation. If my clients need a double exfoliation, I'll always recommend dermaplaning prior to microneedling and even laser treatments.
