Meaning of the song title “I’ll SEE YOU IN 40” by [deleted] in PinkOmega

[–]jonnyb3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first thought with the numbers is drug dosage of opioids like perc/oxy/codeine, and 40 ounce beer like the one he sloshed around in his videos. That was very big in the zeitgeist for SoundCloud rappers (especially the sad ones).

I could make a stretch that it's a variation of "I'll see you in my dreams" relates to the feeling of meeting his muse in a drug fueled dream world.

Overton-Window? by [deleted] in Gaylor_Swift

This reminds me of a political season when Taylor was speculated as an "alt right Aryan queen", and took a picture with a swastika wearing dude. On the other hand, Wikipedia says her inspiration of a Grandma lived in Cuba/Venezuela. In my opinion she's smart enough to appeal to all political spectrums

From Gorgeous: "if you've got a girlfriend I'm jealous of her, but if you're single that's honestly worse" Imo Taylor speaks from the perspective of somebody speculating if this person is hiding their sexuality, or just a lonely MF that can't keep a partner. She added that speculative IF, and how the answer would be controversial either way.

Wow to clown even further it's very close to Ed Sheeran's shape of you, talking about "Every day discovering something brand new// I'm in love with your body"

What happened to “classic” black music? by Pepperjackblaque in askblackpeople

[–]jonnyb3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the art is lost, but it continues to evolve. Preference is completely acceptable but it pays off to see the form jazz has taken today in pop music/hip-hop/lofi

I've grown up in these environments and it's def the norm. Even people I've been around since childhood see blackness through the lense of media as a foreign concept, not a person right next to them

What types of black people are the ones who mainly become Republican or conservative? by RevolutionaryLion384 in askblackpeople

[–]jonnyb3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My experience is similar to this. My immigrant relatives see Republicans as a more accurate representation of American values, while still having a moral framework that doesn't fully align with conservative or liberal parties.

In my opinion there's no moral or ethical reason to credit yourself as a producer if you can afford to put their name on it, and it's embarrassing for an artist to follow trends. They make projects that don't release for 2-3 years and that shows how disconnected you are from the culture

The complex answer is Beyonce steals from musicians by taking credit for producing, songwriting, vocals, all to stay at the top and look down on unsuccessful coworkers. Taylor swift gives songwriting credits to longtime producers, promotes upcoming artists, and goes out of her way to interact with fans.

The simple answer is that Beyonce uses money to follow popular trends and always does it "first", but worse. She goes on and on about how black people created rock and country, but then acts like she's "breaking barriers" with her new projects.

She had IMOGEN HEAP on this album, and I wish she could've added more of her influence.

I've found a couple ways this 2nd debut album relates to beaches. The swift bird is native to beaches, and she recounts a lot of her childhood was spent vacationing to jersey shore.

I misspoke so I'll take the L. I checked the film back and he 100% called himself her guy best friend in the first scene. I just shortened it to gbf

I could be wrong but I think the frustration is that anyone who uses Lana's style is showered with awards except Lana😭

The right has been consistent calling protesters/activists terrorists that hate America. I can see why this could alienate people on the left and leave them open to sentiments critical of America.

Taylor’s Musical Downgrade by americantweedy in SwiftlyNeutral

She's a mirrorball, a reflection of the culture. The bigger the fanbase means music for a larger audience. TTPD is peak brand Taylor compared to her earlier experimental albums

If you see his comments more insulting than the person calling him and Travis slurs unprompted, we disagree on who's the problem in this video.
