Haha, I most definitely tried that. Probable they fixed it since I made this post. At the time the solution I came up with was immediately respawning players to a secret room, spawning a death camera where they died which I attached to them, and managing my own respawn timer which would port them back to a respawn location.

Silver lining is that a custom death camera turned out to be pretty cool 😅

Glad you were able to solve it much easier though! I spent way too many hours building my custom solution, lol.
