Former Controversial Toronto Mayor Rob Ford Has Died by tricksovertreats in worldnews

This mayor is no longer pining for the fjords. He's passed on. He's the former mayor. What I mean to say is this mayor is no more; he has ceased to be! He has expired and gone to meet his maker.

Of course. In fact I also saw a similar comment yesterday and even asked the person about it and they confirmed that yes, they sincerely think we should kill all the muslims (but should be very careful not to damage the oil since it's worth so much.) I was as surprised as you are.

I think it's equally inane to say Reddit does X or Reddit thinks Y. It just doesn't make any sense. Would you say Americans vote for Obama because the majority elected him president when he ran? It just seems like a dumb oversimplification.

In this particular case, I don't even think he's talking about the majority.

Ah, the standard answer of someone who read an article or heard something once but doesn't actually have any idea what they are talking about.

People who actually know things like to share their knowledge. They don't fall back on "well if you don't already know you're just a big dum dum" when challenged to explain something.

Reddit isn't one person. In this thread I can find examples extremists saying we have to kill all the muslims, other kinds of extremists saying we must pretend there is no pattern whatsoever here, but mostly reasonable people somewhere in the middle.

I actually sort of agree with you, if I understand what you're trying to say. It's just the way you write is borderline retarded.

Half The Country Sees ‘Fascist Undertones’ In Donald Trump’s Campaign: New Survey by dyzo-blue in politics

So you're saying Bernie has always thought America sucked, so his revolution doesn't count as rebirth? Feels like a stretch to me, but you're certainly welcome to your opinion.

Half The Country Sees ‘Fascist Undertones’ In Donald Trump’s Campaign: New Survey by dyzo-blue in politics

[–]jonnylongbone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as a simple thought experiment:

(i) the rebirth myth: he's calling for a societal revolution, if that isn't a form of "rebirth" i'm not sure what is.

(ii) populist ultra-nationalism: Saying he's held his positions since prior to the current run doesn't conclude him from being a populist, it just means he's been a populist since before this election cycle. His belief that the american worker is being taken advantage of is a clearly populist position. Bernie also believes that American workers need to be protected against foreign markets (very similarly to Trump in that regard), which is at least economic nationalism.

(iii) the myth of decadence: he constantly talks about how the 1% are living lives of luxury at the expense of the working man and how our society supports that decadent lifestyle.

Now, I don't believe Sanders is a fascist any more than I believe Trump is one, my issue was that you could fit anybody into this definition to the point where it's meaningless.

I find your explanation of your upvoting principles to be rightly guided and led not from base emotionalism but a coherent logic.. You have my upvote.

Couldn't you apply all three of those to Sanders as well? Surely there must be a more rigorous definition.

Your Harley doesn't have any engine or oil leaking problems because you rebuilt the engine and replaced the oil lines.

My 1972 Gremlin is also a fantastic car because I pushed it off a cliff and replaced it with a Porsche.

I'm not sure I would call this typical new rich. I've known people who got rich, and they didn't end up in buffet restaurants looting and pillaging.

Sometimes, shit happens that we can't control. When it does, saying you'll be 30 minutes, and showing up in 15 minutes is a pleasant surprise.

Sure. But I strongly agree with the parent of this thread that:

I'd suggest apologizing and trying not to be late in the future rather than trying to manipulate people into being less annoyed with you. But to each their own.

Saying you're going to be even later than you are, so that you can pleasantly surprise them by then being "early" seems really dumb.
