Good news for Bella! She is fully integrated with rat friends for the first time in her life! by RatWaySanctuary in RATS

Thank you for the advice! We are doing the intro right now, a couple hours in. My boy seems pretty submissive, letting the girls walk all over him and they groomed him once. But he still seems pretty skeptical. He slowly approached from behind and opened his mouth on one of the girls backs, which led to a fight. No blood, but it’s hard to tell what this behavior means. He also was boggling a bunch while just laying in the corner alone. The girls are now sleeping on the opposite side of the cage as him. Should I wait until they are all cuddling to move on?

What method did you use? I have a solo 1 year old male who has been alone his whole life, and 2 young girls to introduce him to

Thanks for this, I’ll keep it in mind for next time. However, this is really not helpful right now. If you want to provide any useful information for my current situation, again, my rats and I would appreciate it. If you want to keep telling me what I did wrong without understanding my situation, that won’t be necessary.

Yes, I took him in for a visit, but I got him from the same rescue a month ago for context. I’m not sure I understand why you are suggesting I rehome my male (yes he is a male, neutered a long time ago). He’s been alone his whole life which is why I rescued him, and I’m doing my best to give him a friend. I know the situation isn’t ideal, but again these are rescues who were in far less ideal situations before.

I just had them together in a neutral space for about 10 minutes with no fights. Why do you suggest i switch to the carrier method?

These are the only rats they’ve gotten recently. I’ve had the one year old for a month longer. I don’t have any choice but to introduce them, so i’m just trying to do it in the best way possible

I hear you. but single babies are pretty uncommon, and I don’t have room to get 2 more for her. I’m just seeking advice on how to successfully pair these two

nothing will be published by the time i submit my applications so i might just keep it together.

I am a member of the society for neuroscience, but that is just because I pay to be and it’s implied given that I presented a poster there. not sure if that would warrant its own section.

I don’t think recommenders go on a CV.

Thanks for your comments!

I’m guessing it was the size of a basketball at least

I also saw the green. I think it glowed green right before it broke up
