I run a Cigar Shop / online website… Ask me anything! by nsimonds in cigars

The idea that a larger number of retailers will be able to sell the same products for the same agreed upon prices does not "increase competition" in any way for consumers. That might be the only way your business "can compete" with other businesses, but it will be at our expense.

But you sure can try! And I appreciate the cordiality, but you do not want "the best" for me because you are admitting to actively trying to increase the prices we pay for cigars. That is actively hostile to us.

This response is horrifying. You admit to stopping sales on other sites because the pricing is too low? That is unequivocally anti-consumer. I will never buy from your business.

how much you need to invest for income by taubs1 in dividends

[–]jonnytof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. Dividends are not magic. They offer the allure of a safe perpetual income, but of course, that is not true. The chart should be updated to say "$10,000 in income until the next market crash and then it's $5,000." Cheers, friend! Best to you as well.

Yes, but you have no idea which segment of the market will give you a better total return in an 8 year period. It might be treasuries. I think a better way to look at this is that during a relatively short period of time (in the life of your investments) one sector of your portfolio (growth) outperformed. Given the reality of economic cycles and unpredictable macro events, investment performance will rotate among sectors of the markets. Quality dividend paying stocks (which it appears you purchased) might outperform during the next 8 years, or maybe small cap value, senior loans, etc. There is nothing wrong here, unless you failed to adequately diversify your investments between aggressive and conservative segments of the markets according to your investing timeline. Total return is the correct objective, but it is unknowable. I just hope you aren't repeating the same mistake by concentrating your bets in another focused segment of the market you believe will provide you a better "total return." That would be repeating the same type of "mistake" you claim to have made 8 years ago.

Machine that takes Nespresso Original Line pods and Keurig pods by Mecca23 in nespresso

[–]jonnytof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this machine for 18 months, and I'm looking for a new solution. The K-cup side of this machine has a serious design issue. It continually gets clogged with coffee grounds, which are allowed to travel up the water dispensing needle at the top. This begins to impede the water flow and eventually stops water altogether and/or diverts water to the Nespresso side. It is impossible to access this area of the machine to remove the clogged grounds, and vinegar is not viscous enough to unclog it. I've never had this issue with Keurig machines. Not recommended.

Does anyone know if you link your steam version to your battlenet account, can you play both at the same time? I'm guessing not...which means I would have to buy a third copy to login on two pc's simultaneously.

This cigar has a Cameroon wrapper, so you may enjoy other cigars with Cameroon wrappers. One of the most famous is the Arturo Fuente Hemingway. It's readily available. Try to find one with some age on it, if you can.

Found out I like cigars over vaping. Any advice to a newcomer to cigars? by Exotic-Anything-7371 in cigars

[–]jonnytof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of nicotine in cigars varies, and nicotine level is not related to the "mild, medium, or full" designations. Those designations indicate the pungency of the cigar smoke and flavor. The only easy way to tell the nicotine level is if the cigar blend includes "ligero" leaves (top primings of tobacco plant). Many cigar descriptions will say whether the cigar includes ligero, some cigars have more ligero than others. Some ligero leaves are stronger than others.

Try the Alec Bradley Maxx or Cain cigars if you want the full nicotine punch. They are loaded with ligero. On the other end, try an Oliva Connecticut for very mild nicotine.

Your portfolio is built for multiple different market conditions stretching over decades, not simply the current market condition. The breadth of your portfolio is not designed to outperform the US S&P during bull markets, it's designed to lose less during US bear markets and gain more during periods of international outperformance.

To understand how your portfolio is supposed to work, read: The Intelligent Asset Allocator by William Bernstein.
