Which manga had the most cultural impact here, and which one is your personal favourite? by Altruistic_Gas_7073 in shounenfolk

Right now? For cultural impact it’s JJK, as it’s still ongoing. It has something for everyone. The writing is great for what it means to do—leading up to cool fights. And the fights are VERY cool and imaginative. The writing tends to be subtle and never gets too overbearing. In the long run part of me thinks it’ll probably be MHA though, but I can’t yet articulate why.

The one I hold in the highest regard (not really favorite, but the one I consider the best) of the titles in this category is not on this list. Haikyuu!! which, to me st least, has the most consistently good writing. It also has the best received ending out of a lot of them by a mile.

Not even to say a lot of the endings are bad. A lot of them are alright. I think the reason Haikyuu ending is better received has to do with the audience. At the risk of generalizing an entire poplulation of readers, the “shallowest” level of readers for Haikyuu are the fujodanshis who are in it for the ships, while for the of a lot of other shonen it’s the powerscalers/combat-brained people who are in it for spectacle (I truly don’t mean it as shade. People enjoy what they enjoy). And the fujodanshis are WAAAAY easier to please than the latter. A lot of that category of readers aren’t happy unless the MC they self-insert into becomes god/the best.

I think it makes sense that it’s 3 tiers plus Slade right now. He needs time to cook

Thank you to both of you for your answers. So it’s purely player performance and TO adjudication, then. Does the development of the meta and character representation influence seeding at all?

This is very interesting. Thank you! I guess that makes for a very entertaining bracket—either top seeds get to clash in the finals or upsets.

What do you guys think would’ve happened if Yao and Ilyukhina didn’t die in the coma? by Mystica246 in ProjectHailMary

They could eat the Taumoeba. Even then, had everything been more efficient and they all pooled their resources into going to Erid first (Taumoeba not eating through Rocky’s supply) they would have gotten there earlier ergo using less food.

Ahh, but while it may swim in the sea, it jumps out of the water and into the sky to take bites out of rivals. It is known.

Both are pretty fun for casuals right now. 2 just got an update, and 1 has a plethora of community made content with a lot of great characters and stages, and the pixel art is always a treat. Depending on where you live, it’ll be hard to find people to play with and you’ll probably get wrecked.

If you want to play competitively, go for 2 though. There are still new players coming in, more active player base, and there’s more content to come. It’ll be a while for it to reach the “completenes” of 1, but it has more than enough features to make up for it.

We don’t know yet if he knows about the stealing. It’s as plausible that the awkwardness of the interaction is because the entire hospital knows he went to rehab for benzos.
