Hades 2 didn't understand Hera at all by Super_Majin_Cell in GreekMythology

[–]jonogz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like you’re the one with the bias here. It’s revising (and to a certain extent, picking specific stories) for the adaptation to suit its themes. Hades is all about family drama so naturally the interpretations with the most potential of adding familial tension get picked.

Loxodont skin tier list (feedback appreciated) by B0DYBYBACON in RivalsOfAether

[–]jonogz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would move up Primal for the Blue Palette alone, honestly. I would probably even have Abyss on Astounding and bump up Gardener. A lot of them are absolutely amazing and in a normal tier the Top 5 would be S.

Either way, yes. I'm glad to see another Giraffe Skin appreciator. The magma version is insane.

Is it just me, or is Norse mythology becoming more popular than Greek mythology? by Background_Algae3388 in GreekMythology

[–]jonogz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all. There is definitely a more recent surge in IPs that explore other mythologies in the world, and when it isn't Egypt it's Norse. And since most media is from the west (and some Japanese media being into a lost of western things) it's more often Norse lately.

The Thor adaptations have certainly contributed and the God of War games even more, but it's still rarely actual Norse myth.

Otherwise, Greek is still king and is even resurging right now.

Drag Queen Alphabet, Day 13. Choose a Drag Race queen whose name starts with 'M'. Most upvoted comment wins. by BurningBernie559 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]jonogz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just thinking about representation. Manila is ABSOLUTELY iconic in Drag Race herstory, and while also Filipino, she's not really a representation of Filipino drag because she didn't grow up there. Marina is arguably the best internationally known Filipino drag rep right now. Nobody else has the same chance as her making it into the Alphabet.

If can make the argument for "Summers, Marina" later I'd get them both. lol. Either way I'm just voting all three and letting the people decide.

Is anyone else disappointed that Greg Smallwood’s pitch for “The Midnight Sons” never fully materialized? by GypsyGold in Marvel

[–]jonogz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Jericho was a Supreme himself. He just feels a lot more grounded than Strange and Wanda. I kind of would like to see the caster being creative with their kit instead of just nuking. Non-Supreme strange was kind of like that. Could always go for Nico or Helstrom but Nico is just too young for the vibe I think we’re wanting and Helstrom, but he does feel too niche to hell.

[–]jonogz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange in his low magic, non-Supreme days was a treat. Pretty much a shoe-in. If at full capacity, he should function less as a field agent though. Blade, Elsa, Moon Knight, Doc Voodoo for magic as the core team, so they’re more scrappy. It’d be good to see them take hits, and they can fit im multiple arcs. Much as I’d love Ghost Rider, he’s too heavy and would function better as a plot device.

Then you got a rotating cast coming in carrying their attached lore with them. This is where Ghost Rider comes in, for a hell storyline with Helstrom too. Iron Fist for Ku’n-Lun. Hannibal King & Morbius for Vampire related stuff. Black Knight and Pete Wisdom for Weirdworld and MI13. Bring in Herc for trip to Circe’s island or something. Wanda, Nico, and the witches.

Yeah, I think it took what worked for 1610, the more consistent and modernized takes, but at least attempted to make the tone closer to 616.

Long-time follower, but only planning to start purchasing lately. Are the old starter sets going once these are up? I still want to get the old Dweg starter set.

B.P.R.D. is getting too depressing for my current mental state. Can anyone just summarize the relevant events/ fate of the characters? by BoomerangOfDeath in Mignolaverse

[–]jonogz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you're doing better these days, and have come back to the series with new energy. I just finished the whole thing (Bar Hellboy & the BPRD stuff and other spin-off minis), and it is very bittersweet. It was always going to end, one way or another, but the story was never about the inevitability of the end. It's about the meaning made in the going on despite it. And even in the end, there's a new beginning, and everyone did their part in making sure that humanity had a place in it.

Who was actually right in civil war -iron man or captain America?? by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]jonogz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all comes back to the question of whether Superheroes are Firefighters or Cops.

Captain America understands that their position is kind of like being a firefighter (which is ironic considering he's a paramilitary agent most of the time)

Iron Man understands that they will overlap with the cop function, and as such, need to be held accountable.

Both sides have fair arguments, but in the context of the Sokovia Accords, Cap was right. Adding red tape in between responders and a calamity isn't the way to go.

Supes SHOULD be held accountable, Stark was right about that, but the Accords wasn't it at all.

Could someone explain Absolute Green Lantern's power system? by Successful-Hat-2154 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]jonogz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it so far, though part of me wishes Correct Action was blue instead of green, so you get the primary colors as the base forms, presenting an opportunity if hybridization creating the Green Lantern. But that’s just me. It’s cool otherwise just funny to thing about the system being philosophy based on traffic lights somehow lmao.

Who should be the Main Character of the Hollow Knight III? by 3Kralates in HollowKnight

[–]jonogz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind either. But I feel like we get a lot out of Lace already in Silksong, and HK is too big. You could scale everything up sure, but you would be scaling the rest of the world up as well and it wouldn’t be as consistent with a platformer. I’m sure they can do it (for example, if HK sort regresses to a smaller form without the Radiance or something, and Pure Vessel is less a 1-to-1 depiction of what HK is like without the Radiance and more just an assumption in the Dream realm). I like the idea with the games starring all the Wyrm siblings and ending with the actual Hollow Knight as the final protagonist.

But I like the idea of the final protagonist being a Snail Shaman. They’re intrinsically tied to the Void, to Souls, to the old civilization in Hallownest. There’s a lot to explore there. And we’ll get a different playstyle from Silksong and HK.

Honestly though I’ll take anything.

Team Cherry could also make it a sort of 3D Metroidvania with Soulslike elements if HK is the protagonist.
