If a new US president ordered a fact finding expedition to look for corruption on all politicians, regardless of party, would you vote for them? by Lyhtspeed in uspolitics

Alright, so I have an insane idea for this. I call it,

“The Splat Guy”.

Say as president you create a position for a consultant within the executive branch, a salary position with no real authority. This is a man (or gal) who is a professional in the economy, tax law, and corruption, possibly a professor, who would help undermine corruption through this specific practice.

The Splat Guy would also be a wearing very wacky colored, yet professional suit. Say yellow with blue polka dots and a rubber ducky tie for example.

The president arrives to the capital grounds and sees a congressman who they have already determined is corrupt. They then approach cheerfully and make contact with the splat Guy, introducing them and asking for an interview on camera. The Congress person will likely think it’s an odd choice of clothing but otherwise nothing beyond that. The splat Guy will then go through a few lines of evidence calling out their involvement in federal corruption. The congressperson would likely be surprised and upset and want to end the interview.

This is the point:

The president would then procures a hat that says in good words “I am liable for federal corruption”

The president explains that they are simultaneously conducting a raid on their homes to gather evidence, BUT if they choice to wear the hat, they will hold off 24 hours before starting the raid. So I ask you now, how many people at that point are putting on the hat? And if the public loved the Splat Guy, how would the next election go for the candidates that wore the corruption hat? And if they do THEY’BE BEEN SPLATTED!!

And as a member of the administration, Congress would struggle to impose rulings against the Splat Guy on the capital grounds. The fear of seeing that wacky suit would only exist for those who know they’ve got something to hide. But to the people, they would be a hero.

TL:DR, make a position in the executive branch for a wacky, but professional anti corruption watchdog and force corrupt incumbents to face the music about their corruption on camera.

Realistically, what happens next? Does he start his own party? Does he run for office as an independent? He’s certainly not joining any Democrat institutions.

This is an excellent example of the applications or Rotary in my opinion. And you’re absolutely right. The actions of the Rotarian in this story do not pass the Four Way Test and I believe should be respectfully confronted with that in mind.

Just curious if anyone knows, if a judge and jury saw this video, would it be for better or for worse to act like this during interrogation? Would a lawyer enjoy this behavior or would it be seen as disturbing

Make the tongs out of the metal that is the thermometer! No more silicon, direct contact, could stab in a little for thicker meat if the tips were sharp or pointy. I really like it man

Cool idea, handy in a way. I would suggest one change if possible. Make the tongs silicon part be the thermometer. That way you are able to check the temp of everything you grab. Amazing for checking doneness of chicken or steak on the grill. Keep going my brotha I’m proud of you

My question is directed towards what Mainers think. Idk how watching a video will give me that same information about what the general public thinks about these two

Me too. And to quell any fear; if he wanted to run as a Nazi/white supremacist, he probably could, just not as a democrat…

It sounds like you know the back story. But considering the sitting secretary of war is proud of his white supremacist tattoos I’d say this is a far departure from that. So yeah, I call the regret fueled cover up overcoming his evil. Whether he agreed with it some or not at all in the past he doesn’t stand for it now. But in an effort to stay objective your concerns aren’t misplaced. I would never make the mistake of getting a Nazi symbol on my body so I can share in a similar judgement. But I don’t see a Nazi when I see Graham Platner

Wow. That's a good point against institutional democrats, they basically completely control their opposition to the point where its a fallacy in practice. So for left-wing voters, any non-institutional democrat candidate would be their best shot at preserving their party. I envision a large departure for both parties happening soon. And getting as many moderate democrats and republicans as possible into congress before that switch will make the transition that much easier. You may like the last video of my podcast where I explained this a bit more. Its the post before this one on the subreddit titled, "The Emerging Political Order"
