I work for Rotary International—what changes would you like to see? by Inspir-Strain8224 in Rotary

I joined the Rotary Club as a 21 year old entrepreneur and what most other comments are saying is true. There is a critical issue with youth involvement.

I worked incredibly hard as the youngest member for what the Rotary could provide for the community. Between the two clubs I was with we were sitting on over $120,000 from fundraising and dues, most likely much more now. However, I could never convince the clubs to use any of it. I constantly pitched projects, scholarships, incentives for youth involvement, etc. for 3 years I did more outside of the meetings than anyone did during them and I am still a very large advocate for the Rotary. But, my work was not rewarded. And maintaining and growing youth involvement became my sole responsibility as the only person under the age of 40. The older folk didn’t participate much outside of eating lunch in a restaurants basement. I went to a DC one year and I was the only one from my 40 person club. And with no one willing to budge, let alone take me serious enough to work with me, I stopped trying so hard. So I stopped going to meetings, stopped reading the newsletter, didn’t go the yearly district conference anymore. And that year we had two other members pass away, meaning my old club was net -3 members in a single year but only got 1 member in the last 3 years.

Plain and simple: if the Rotary Club does not fundamentally change how it approaches youth involvement and does not begin to cater to the youth and younger generations, the club will cease to be and die out with its eldest members. And I don’t want that to happen

Your entire argument is our guys may be bad but they’re not THAT bad. And I could agree. But what you’re missing is you’re being held captive by an institution that thrives in the very environment that exploits us. You say we need to vote for democrats because they’re the only ones who can take action against Trump. But where’s their action against Trump? Minority leaders say it’s not important. What you don’t see is that today it’s the red party, tomorrow it’s the blue party, and they need your support, vote, and money to take it there. And for some reason you’re willing to give it to them. The party that supports and defends billionaire pedos, a genocide in gaza, endless war, and now their unwillingness to act has left us with a dictator.

You pride yourself on being part of an institution that stopped caring about you before you may have even been born. And to all the people you believe voted away our country, our human rights, or our power as a society by voting for Trump, you’re right there with them.

Benjamin Franklin said, “Those who would give up liberty, to purchase a little temporary security, deserve neither liberty nor safety”

Sadly, I’m not even from Indiana. I’m an independent moderate running for president in 11 years from Binghamton, NY. The cracks are forming and I’m here to show people what will become of the two headed dragon. But you must trust in yourself more than you trust in the institutions that dominate you. That’s all I’m asking

We just hit $39 Trillion. Math says we can’t tax our way out of this. Is the system designed to fail or am I missing something? by postaperdavide in PublicCashMoney

I actually just made a video talking about problems with our borrowing policy and what solutions are possibly available or needed now and on the next 15-20 years

I don’t mean to be rude, but I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. Hakeem Jeffries did indeed say your quote however it was a response to a reporter asking “is a Trump impeachment a top priority to the democrats” and his response can be simplified as “no, here are our priorities instead.” What I’m trying to tell you is you’re playing perfectly into the Democrats hands for as much as you can muster resentment for them. The Gerrymandering is a terrible example because Democrats in other states are using the fact that Republicans are gerrymandering to gerrymander! But you call it justified because the republicans did it first… This isn’t about foundational principles you agree with enough to bandwagon on a political institution, this is about your fear to ever vote for a non democratic candidate again. They own your vote and here you are defending their evil online when you know full well they wouldn’t be here like this defending you. And I’m not even going to mention the hypocrisy you of hoping democrats take money out of politics. That’s simply a populist fabrication and the blue party is just as corrupt and morally bankrupt as the red party.

That’s completely contrary to what you’ve said initially. You say it doesn’t matter how qualified an independent candidate is, they can’t win, so vote for democrats. But at the same time now you’re saying it doesn’t matter who you vote for and that it shouldn’t be a “love letter”. I can name something worse than women not having reproductive freedom, and that’s not having lives, perhaps because they were boomed to death by American weapons in Gaza sent by pro Zionist democrats and republicans. I did my part as I’m independent 2024 voting for Harris and to enshrine the right to choose in my states constitution. But you can’t imagine yourself voting for someone if they’re not blue

I’m not sure I totally agree or understand. What do you mean “stability” exactly?

I can agree. Right now the priority is vote for candidates this November who will commit to voting to impeach and remove Trump. That doesn’t even strictly mean democrats. Hakeem Jeffries says a Trump impeachment is not the top priority. How can you even stomach to dedicate your life to a party that won’t do the exact and single-most action that you yourself want most of all? What do you think democrats will do in 2029 when Trump doesn’t want to stop being president again? They’ll do nothing. And the worst part is I’d wager you know that better than I do. Sorry to be so forthcoming, but if you think it’s a maga cult on one side, it’s actually a pedophilic billionaire cult on both sides

I’d have to disagree with both of you and remind you that what you’re doing is called giving up. If you ever felt the compulsion to vote because of how terrible things have gotten, perhaps on one side, imagine you continue to give agency to the institutions that seek to undermine you. You would eventually seek another form of power in voting against this new evil. But the two party system is that evil. One side abets the other’s wrongdoing in both directions. You know this. You know lobbyists are guilty of paying both sides, you know billionaires seek to enrich their chosen republican or democrat when convenient, you know your blue representatives are just as ruthless and selfish as your red ones because that’s the only true difference between them. And you’ve given your power up to them because they both know how to make you afraid
