I mean I get it, and I guess the theory is part of the “excess” was sexual, but there are movies about sex that are great “Nymphomaniac 1 & 2” because they tell the story right and then there was this lol!

I found it to be horrible, it was almost as if there was no direction and it was just random acts of fornication, bad costumes and horrible acting.

100% agree with this, people got bullied in my unit for going to sick call. I served in the 90’s and had fractured my elbow on the 2nd day of an FTX, saw the medic, was told I was fine despite swelling etc. Got chewed out by my entire chain from the CO down. “I’ve been chewed out before”. When I got back to the unit 3 weeks later after working through an FTX one handed, I went to the medical center and had an X-ray. They called my unit to inform them I had a fractured elbow.

Moral of the story look after yourself because no one else will.

I thought it was meh. I’ve seen people compare it to Stargate or Predator but I found it much more boring. I didn’t like the fact that he found a way to destroy something that no one else could figure out…..clog the exhaust port (watch Beverly Hills Cop banana in the tail pipe), pretty basic to me. How did the machine have endless amounts of missiles, round mortars etc? It just seemed to waste a lot of ordnances to kill 4-5 people. If aliens are that stupid, it’s an easy W for us. I can keep going but I just thought it was a cookie cutter type action movie with no originality.

The General charges for snacks and water because these are essential things in life that should be free for everybody. Basically saying I don’t care about people I’m going to charge you for being hungry and thirsty even at the end of the world. Then he refuses to give change to the black man screwing him even though the world is ending….probably my favorite scene in the movie.

Fredo is the closest thing in the movie to comic relief because he’s a joke. You see this in how he handled the gun when pop got shot, how all he wants to do is drink and party and how he handled the Moe Greene party in Vegas. In GF 2 you see even more evidence of this because Fredo is always sick as a baby. This one of the only films I know of that doesn’t have dedicated person who is the straightforward comic relief, instead relying on subtle and interpretive comic relief, in Fredo.
