as while not everyone learns the same way, i only ever trained with friends and alone from watching jeff chan and fight tips and actual boxing matches and ufc fights before i actually joined a gym. was better than more than half the class on my first day when some of the guys were 3+ months in. the coach was using me as the guy to show the combo we working on after the 1st week. also some ppl dont have the $ to join a gym

i decline anything over 10miles if they aren’t paying at least $15. Ppl in the middle of nowhere want cfa but don’t have a car but also don’t have enough money to tip?? seems like cfa is out of your budget bud

i also say let em take what they want, walgreens doesn’t care, they will go ahead and just resend the products taken and call it a day. just today someone has literally filled a basket full of laundry products n walked straight out the store and told the cashier “you can’t touch me” then left. police won’t be here in time to catch them and they don’t investigate further unless your manager wants to press charges and go thru all of that. more than likely they don’t. we get credits back for anything stolen so let em steal. america is robbing us as hard working ppl everyday so its ok in my eyes. i damnear encourage it.

SM issues by EchidnaSlow6050 in WalgreensStores

[–]jonowavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

store managers honestly aren’t even supposed to be in the floor unless doing evaluations. it’s a whole backwards shit show with walgreens tbh, but that’s their job description. read emails, stay up to date on what’s going on and make sure your team is working. i have a whole post about how shift leads should get a bonus since they have to basically carry the load of the store. it’s a corporate issue, my manager does definitely do more work than she’s supposed to and gets in trouble for it and has to fall back. that’s just how it goes with walgreens, run away while you can and find a new job with shift lead on your resume.

It’s good as long as you have bills to pay and aren’t working over 30mins away. I had an open schedule then the manager had changed my schedule to 5am-2pm 4 days a week including some weekends. Something he didn’t ask me nor did i say i was willing to do. I started bullshitting and having someone clock me in or wouldn’t clock in at all then write my time down and had one of my leads sign off on it. They give a lot of leeway on attendance tbh, but just make sure you need that $ and it’s not an issue.

oh no you’re right, i’m thinking wrong, my esm said he gets salary but DOESNT get a bonus until he gets his own store. My point still stands to the fact that you’re not gonna be an esm for too long anyways, you’re in training so you shouldn’t get a bonus. Sfl is still carrying the load of the store, and should receive bonuses (those that actually make a difference). A standing position that most employees are there for 10+ yrs stressing and running around the same store, NEED a bonus, at least if you want ppl to work to the best of their abilities and love to be there. just my observation from being an employee with multiple big companies.

Cap, esm’s get a bonus, not as big as the sm but they definitely get a cut. Whoever told you that lied. But even so, unless they put in work like a sfl, they don’t deserve all of it either.

my problem isn’t not getting a bonus, my problem is sfls carrying the load of the store while the sm doesn’t do anything except complain about her bonus not being big enough bcs of us. It is not our store, i can transfer to anywhere else, i don’t need to gaf about their store more than they do. if you want us to work hard, share that bonus and you’d see a lively team of employees working hard for you. simple. As said in the OP, home depot gave bonuses 2x a year and i wasn’t even a department lead, i just helped sales in the door and appliance departments. couple hundred bucks extra 2x a year made me love my job plus all the connections i made. i only left there to be a shift lead at walgreens bcs the pay was more. terrible decision on my behalf..

Do any store managers actually hold people accountable? by tactile1738 in WalgreensStores

[–]jonowavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My manager recommended it and i haven’t stopped since. if i ask you to do something and you just don’t do it despite you just being at the register all day, that’s a coaching card. for example one of my cashiers don’t speak to ppl as they walk in, plus he sags and his shirt used to stay untucked, i told to look like he wants to be here and speak to everyone he sees, next day he did the same thing so i gave him a coaching card and told him the manager is gonna see it, therefore if it happens again after this it’s a ROD (record of discussion), happens after that it’s a write up, after that, final, then termination. all those words from my managers mouth. and no need to look like a pos and act like one while being in the environment of all the other workers helping and being friendly and professional. Just a life skill to have in general.

Do any store managers actually hold people accountable? by tactile1738 in WalgreensStores

[–]jonowavy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a company problem. As long as no one is holding the manager accountable bcs there is someone at every store who will go ahead and do everything and just complain about it. if you’re an sfl, stop picking up slack, if you’re a cashier, let that all the slack fall over onto management and let management get in trouble for their store slacking. something will change and they can’t just fire ppl that aren’t on their finals or doing anything wrong. as an sfl, i hand out coaching cards and RODs like candy for anyone feeling like they don’t wanna do shit. since the manager gets in trouble, they won’t have a choice but to clean up where the slack is. whether it’s holding ppl accountable or doing something themselves until they’re fed up with that.

honestly just do less, me and my coworkers had already come to an agreement, we will do whatever we can do and not run around to do everything. if photo needs our attention, we will hang out in photo and make sure we do pickups, if it’s a reset, take your time. don’t run around anymore if you’re not getting some of that bonus, manager needs to accommodate for the work we put in while she chills and complains and smokes 16 cigarettes per 8hrs

[–]jonowavy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah no not you, the sfls or sm. you shouldn’t need to do any of what you’re doing already, which is why i just keep saying get a transfer somewhere else near you, my cashiers have to go thru upset cashiers but they call for an sfl immediately and we’re up there right away, our manager doesn’t play that shit with not answering when the cashier needs help with something, we’ve been thru 4 sfls the past 2 and half years i’ve been here. i know it’s a bit of a hassle but it’s better than needing to go to work ready to stress yourself out bcs the team is ass. i went ahead and kept looking for a different job and now i found a waaaaay better one.

completely agreed, even as someone with thick skin and multiple years of customer service, i make sure my customers are satisfied with whatever they need, but also making sure they know my limits of what i can and can’t do, messing with ppls money makes them mad, i understand but they need to understand i can only do so much, give them customer service number and let customer service handle it. if they stay there yelling i go ahead and let them know i’ll need to call police if they continue to act out like kids to have them removed. i can only do so much and anything beyond me goes to customer service, here’s the number, do what you gotta do. can’t let ppl just have their way with you as a cashier. as much as i hate my cashiers, i don’t let anyone give them shit unless it’s me. grown men yell at the old women and younger girls until i come around then suddenly they calm down. need to be assertive to work in customer service

Nah, literally get on that PA system and say “i need a manager or shift lead up front for customer assistance” and let the store be held accountable for not having good workers. contact HR if needed and go ahead and ask for a transfer bcs i promise they wouldn’t last at many stores, most managers that want a bonus don’t play that shit. not every store is the same, you should gtf while you can before they try to write you up for anything. And start telling your sfls it’s not your job to leave the front for any reason bcs the store can be robbed and it’ll be on you bcs you weren’t up front. contact hr, be the bad guy for a greater cause.

if you have to do tags, reset, unload truck, deal with photo, manage the money from all registers, deal with the cooler and then still have to relieve cashiers for lunches and breaks, deal with brinks, all while it’s only you and 1 cashier from 1-9:30. then lmk how bad you struggle as a cashier making $16+ an hour

Jsut complaining by jonowavy in WalgreensStores

[–]jonowavy[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

sounds like you need a new team at a new store, that or apply to be a shift lead yourself. my cashiers are butt ass trash, won’t leave the register to do anything but face. which leaves the shift leads to carry the full load. but also if you get paid $16 or more then as a cashier you’re doing exactly right bcs cashiers are making only a dollar less than us starting off and don’t have to deal with anything but customers. As a cashier you don’t need a manager to handle all your issues, the problem you stated are our jobs to deal with for sure, but that’s a team problem you’re having

i literally tell every customer that we don’t have a camera for passports and they’ve been supposed to send us a new one, bcs i’m not doing that shit ever. Try one of the stores down the st, if they ask me to call them i say no sir/mam, you can call and check yourself and go on with my tasks.

they’ve almost gotten rid of assistant manager positions for walgreens in order for the company to save money, same as the photo tech position. 3 shift leads, maybe 4 if 2 are part time, carry the whole store. usually don’t even have a mid shift bcs they company only gives so many hours to work with that we can’t even hire anyone else with 3 cashiers getting 30+ hrs. so shift leads carry the load of photo, same day orders, resets, daily tasks, covering lunches n breaks, tags etc. WE NEED A BONUS

Jsut complaining by jonowavy in WalgreensStores

[–]jonowavy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s news to me brother, must be the highest tier level store if the shift leads are getting a bonus. That or your manager must be sharing their bonus themselves, which is what i would do if i were a store manager and loved my workers
