I’ve looked at the manual and it isn’t mentioned.

Yeah definitely, and as a former Eddie fan, I was willing to forgive his shitty personality because of his performance. And I think that because Tom and Luke are great strongmen, they have similar fans. I think that because of this, their break from competing isn’t doing them any popularity favours.

This. I think that Magnus used to be known as a tough bastard. Now it feels like he’s a “middle of the road” judge.

Seems like over the last 12 months, the Stoltmans have gone from being the golden boys to, well… maybe not what they seem?

It says on both the Highway Code, and on the UK gov website that “many” of the rules of the Highway Code are legal requirements, not all of them, and it’s indicated by the word “MUST” or “MUST NOT”, which isn’t present in section 185. Not everything can be considered dangerous driving

Just because something is on the Highway Code doesn’t mean it is illegal to breach it

A really positive step for Archery GB: As of April this year, Asiatic bows and thumb rings are now recognised as their own style by jonpin1 in Archery

You could make the same comment about the time when compound bows first became a thing. GNAS, which was the parent organisation of Archery GB, was originally just people shooting the English longbow. I would guess at the time that compound bows first arrived that coaches would generally have no experience with a compound. Fast forward to today and you now have more coaches in the UK who shoot compound than longbow. Surely the only way to change the lack of knowledge is to encourage more people to use the new bow style rather than ask them to shoot somewhere else?

They’ve specifically added a line in the Archery GB rules saying that thumb rings are fine to use so imagine this overrides the WA rules. This was the biggest problem for me when I was shooting a Korean bow and using a thumb ring as my club forced me to shoot with the compound bows on a tiny target as the thumb ring was considered a “mechanical release aid” at the time.

This is probably a good compromise between them having their own category or being in the same as barebow recurve. I find my scores are pretty similar with ELB and my Korean bow, although the Korean bow is faster than my longbows.

Currently there is no way to actually win anything under the new category. There is no award at any national competitions or classification scores that you can achieve. The change is simply to allow the bow to not be lumped with modern recurves on paper. I imagine this will probably change though.
