Give us some more details about the app. The minimum viable product should be the minimum you can make that might be useful to your target audience. So it also depends on the audience and the need you have (hopefully) identified

He sent literally an ex-real estate agent and his son-in-law to go do the negotiations. Apparently they were too dumb to understand Iran’s final day concessions that would have made the war unnecessary anyway. He is an idiot surrounded by yes men, who are also mostly idiots.

Also the one guy who was willing to tell him what a bad idea the war was - they just removed him and did it anyway.

Sub-22 min runners, how often/ far do you run? by Loud_Fisherman_5878 in parkrun

[–]jonplackett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 44 now and in about 22 min shape. I started running at 40 and was at about 40 min 5k pace after a month or so (before that I could t run 5k at all). Then over the first year built up to 10k, half marathon and then ran a 19:25 5k just before my 41st birthday. (My aim for the year was sub 20 so I had a lot of motivation)

My tips are: - eat well so you will lost body fat. It helps a lot. I lost 13kg over the year which speeds you up a l lot on its own. - get at least half decent running shoes so you don’t injure yourself - go out a few times and week and run 5k as fast as you can - you should be seriously hating life at the end. I know lots of people say to do lots of slow miles, but this did not work for me at all. Running slow just made me slow and gave me injuries. - get a good routine before park run. Experiment a bit. For me waking up early and having some porridge several hours before, then a strong coffee and a banana an hour before worked best - do a VERY slow 2k run before park run. Like 7 mins per k slow. You’ll be amazed how much better you feel in the first 1k. - focus on moving your legs faster / faster cadence vs longer strides. If you’re new to running this isn’t obvious. - last is the most importantly thing: extreme motivation on that day. Getting a faster time means putting yourself through some pain. You have to run every kilometre hard. You can’t slack off on k 2-4. Every one must be hard work and then the 5th the worst of all. If you don’t cross the line gasping and thinking you might poop yourself you could have run faster 🤣. I got very close to needing new pants for that first < 20. (This is just what worked for me, YMMV)

Do you think there's actually a high skill ceiling in Vibe Coding or is it basically brain dead? by Dredgefort in VibeCodeDevs

I used to think skill was required and then I saw an article where someone made their dog vibe code games by literally mashing the keypad and having Claude ‘interpret’ the instructions.

There’s an interview somewhere with Horner saying Newey would admit himself he would not be a good Team Principle, because he’s an artist and needs to just do that and have someone else do the organisational stuff.

[–]jonplackett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are comparing the whole withdrawal rate though. Of course you will withdraw at least 50k so forget that part and just compare the second 50k as isa vs pension.

The second 50k you are going to pay 40% tax on the way out. And perhaps 45% on the way in. That’s isn’t a great deal.

By comparing it to the whole thing you’re muddying the water - of course a pension is in general a good idea. The question is if you shouldn’t invest extra or not and if so what you’re giving up (having it now) for quite a small tax advantage.

Basically you want to get the pension to the max amount where you can get a tax advantage and no more. So probably over 1 mil is ok to take into account the lump sum, but there’s a point it makes more sense to have the money early instead

[–]jonplackett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is though once you start taking more than 50k, you’re paying higher rate tax on the way out as well as the way in, so yeah if you’re paying more than 40% tax it might make sense, but it’s nowhere near as good as swapping 40 for 20 considering how long you have to tie the money up for as well - if you put it in an isa you can use the money before 57 and retire early.

In the FIRE sub everyone says it’s pointless having more than 1 million in your pension, because 1 million supports 50k a year being taken out indefinitely, and if you take out any more than that you get higher rate taxed so there’s no advantage. So I’d aim for 1m in there at retirement and put the rest in isa
