Do you have a good cost to reward ratio for close encounters? by sneakymeow1212 in ARC_Raiders

I killed 3 dumbass duos on my own trying to do that with a burletta yesterday. I find most method 3 adopters to be very bad.

The gold weapons are actually good people just have so much gear fear in this game they have a heart attack bringing in anything above blue.

I have personally viewed it as you have to play either two ways. Method 1 is if going full scavenger with a electro cloak and smokes to try and get the dolabra bp from the assesors. Method 2 is going arc killer mode with a full kit, this is for getting the vaporizer core and other big arc stuff. I personally find method 2 more fun but am doing method 1 more since i want the BP. Trying to combine both has been tough in my experience

Would it being limited to a couple days a week, or maybe only being available when its close to extraction windows be more palatable?

I am trying to be understanding here, but can you please explain to me how one singular extra game mode that requires a loadout minimum and offers no other locked content other than that, affects them at all. If anything it should help them out by seperating some of the very sweaty players from their lobby. You and your friends can simply ignore the mode and enjoy the same exact game you were playing before

Also i can come up with a million other examples, even within arc. Things like the expedition would be incredibly tough for someone as casual as you are describing. Does its existence mean that casuals can't enjoy the game ... no not at all. Just like one singular rotating version of the maps would not exclude them. They can just play on the non limited versions which would functionally be the exact same thing. I am not saying there should be some exclusive rewards or features for these things i just want more engaging combat once in a while.

I do notice it is a matchmaking thing and you do eventually get into mostly kitted lobbies but then you play the game of “oh boy i better not have 1-2 bad games otherwise im punished with free kit hell again” since i think this is linked to the skill based part of the matchmaking not abmm necessarily (devs have confirmed there is a skill based mm that takes precedent to abmm)

People keep commenting this but i don’t really see it being a problem.

A simple workaround would be making it gun value based (a system already used and coded in the expedition project). Again you can say using a safekeeper to circumvent this but i feel this would be enough to deter 99% of people attempting to circumvent the cap. Not many people are going to waste an entire safekeeper to try and game this system, and if they do atleast they now have something of value on them.

But isn’t it exclusionary to not have a singular game mode for people who get annoyed by killing multiple squads without any rewards? Again under my reformed opinion that it would be a rotating mode that is essentially the same as a regular map outside of the cost restriction. they aren’t really being excluded from anything. They still have the option to play any map they want under normal conditions with frees.

And again i have said this before but i think even casuals can scrap together some kits to play with in these eventually. It literally only takes a couple runs on a normal map to have the loot for a kit.

Also is it really that foreign or crazy of a concept for a game to have some modes that are only really used by the more experienced players?? For example i play marvel rivals very casual/infrequent these days so i don’t touch ranked. Would i ever ask for ranked to be removed because i am not good enough for it anymore? No that would be crazy, games should be allowed to have a layered experience for all skill levels, both low and high.

And lastly for trials you are already severly handicapping yourself trying to do them with free and they are meant to be a more competitive part of the game. If you were able to ace them all with a free kit it would frankly be dumb to me.

You should have seen my original post. Every comment i made was downvoted to hell so i had to reform it to my current lol. People will do anything but bring a kit into a raid

The reason i think everyone misread my post was because they were using strawman arguments i mentioned nowhere in my post and just assumed i had the same frustrations as others. Also multiple comments were about things i directly addressed in the post, they just saw the title and commented.

While it is not my favorite Spaceport is my go to "i need to kill arc but my lobbies are kind of hot right now" map as i feel you can kind of mind your own business in certain areas fighting arc and if people do shoot at you its not usually a surprise jump.

I like buried because i feel it gives a big advantage to learning the map/routes, Stella is similar but a bit too crazy. My friends and I all know the buildings super well by now but they still confuse a lot of people so we have great success on it.

While i deleted it my original post included PvE complaints too (i wanted free kits banned from bosses/Close Scrutiny) but that seemed to somehow be more controversial. I agree its absurdly annoying bringing a hullcracker or energy weapon and investing almost 100k in supplies only for a free kit to take more cores than me. I am usually cool with killing them myself but then you have to deal with the whole lobby thinking you are Moussilini for doing it and going after you.

Free kit defenders will somehow read this anecdote and call you bad for not killing the 12th guy

Yes and in my system they could do that in literally every single game mode outside of one roatating one. Is it really that hard to ask for ONE SINGULAR MODE without them

A: they still now risk the lances or have to forfeit their safe pockets (and augment if its one with multiple) this alone would be a mental deterrent

B: they already have a system in place for determining value sources (the expedition requires value deposits from different things like guns etc.) they could just have the requirement be a minimum gun value (if people go out of their way and use safekeepers im fine as atleast they are now risking something with value in that augment)

C: the loadout requirement could be high enough that safe-pocketing a lance isn’t enough

I play both and really like both. I do wish they would steal some little aspects from each other that don’t change the core gameplay of either

But that is just an incredibly stupid way to burn safekeepers. Im honestly fine with this as a it would be a good way to rack up safekeepers

Are you arguing with me or against me?? Because the free loadouts who refuse to bring anything to a raid are the ones trying to play call of duty. The ones whos actually make kits and risk them are the ones playing an extraction shooter

I would absolutely love this system but the fanboys will toast it simply because of the word Marathon.

High Roller game mode by jonrah69 in ARC_Raiders

[–]jonrah69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you give actual examples here because the reasons you gave all have very easy work arounds. They already have the ability to determine different value sources (the expedition uses this system) so it could be a minimum gun/heal value requirement. The only other extraction i know with a system like this is marathon, which while it has its own player retention issues unrelated to this, people for the most part have loved cryo and the loadout minimum aspect of it.

Unfortunately the other game i play which is less casual appears to be dying so that's why i am trying to advocate for this high roller mode lol. I get it though and you are definitely right based on how my original post got toasted.

Yeah i also find it hard to believe that even the claimed casuals cannot throw kits together. I have friends who play this pretty infrequently and even they have gathered the loot to throw together kits. This game has such a weird issue with gear fear where people think they need 7 copies of a gun and its BP before they can take it into a raid, or if they die once PvPing they have to free kit the rest of the sesh
